Tre is a solid backup PG. His assist/TO is up there with his brother.
His stats are an illusion, most of his assists are on the perimeter and nowadays if you just hand the ball at the 3 pts line and the teammate does all the work, you'll end up with an assist (TP would've had A LOT more assists with his "4 down" to Timmy if they conted the same way in his era)
+ Tre is smart and doesn't try anything he's not good at, he rarely passes below the FT line for ex and rarely tries a lob pass mostly to avoid a TO

After the ASG Devin even became Wemby's best passer bc at least he worked on it and really tried whereas Tre remained at best conservative and kept passing the ball on the perimeter mostly

In the end, at best he doesn't move the needle, at worst he's a liability on defense bc of his size and on offense bc he can't shoot the 3

Your hatred for Tre is showing. If you YouTube lob pass to Wemby, you’ll see most from Tre:

I just saw a little bit of the game here and there. Saw the moments where Mamu was draining threes, and I do think he could have an impact with the starters greater than his talent level would suggest. I don't know, still trying to make sense of that game last night and what I did see, but it mostly looks extremely disappointing. Didn't really seem like anyone had shown major improvement over the summer, though I would like to see more of Blake to make a firm opinion. Also, the team probably has a real iden y challenge when Victor is not out there, but yeah it is starting to feel like some of these young players are just going to be complimentary players. So gut reaction, yeah that's disappointing, but it's only one game.

tre is barely a backup pg.Dude is a poor shooter and average passer. We gotta upgrade that pg postion with a pg that can shoot and playmaker.
    Shame we passed on dilly.

If people are worried about Tre’s defense, Dilly will be worst. Sure Dilly can score but he’s a liability on defense especially in playoffs. And for an 8th pick that you can’t play in the playoffs because of defensive liability, Dilly would be a waste of a top 8th pick.

Dilly is a great scorer and very good at handling the ball and making plays,Stuff this team needs badly.Tre aint great at .
You would mad to have tre jones over dilly for backup pg.Who cares even at 8th,This team is use to wasting draft picks
    on drafting bad players anyways.

Sochan has gone back to having Denise Rodman hair?

That is what the cover picture for the article shows.

    I'm a hater now?

So you chose to ignore the part where I say he's smart?

I'm not 15yo nor on Twitter, I wish the best to all of them, it's never the point

You used the word “smart” because Tre doesn’t try to do what’s he’s not good at including attempting lob passes. Come on.

I think that changes when you have either Wemby/Bassey protecting the middle.

I don’t think so they used that defense all of last year.

white got us couple 1st round picks.Doubt tre jones cant get us one second round pick.
This time we won't be looking to receive picks, but better players and picks will be going the other way.
Keldon is solid enough to be a neutral asset in any trade. Nothing special as a player, but is on a team friendly deal and can be useful.
Tre is on an expiring and Collins has two years left.
Three of them are ideal to salary match in any trade.
I doubt we'll move Barnes. As I said when we got him, I could easily see him becoming the new Finley. He'll turn 34 when his current deal expires and probably take a team friendly deal to finish his career on a playoff team.

at this point i cant really fathom picking up Branham's 4th year option. he doesnt play defense and doesnt playmake. so, he's a scoring specialist who's not all that good at shooting or scoring? really liked his game as a rookie who could handle the ball a little, showed a really nice in-between game with the pull-up middies and some floater type stuff. but he hasnt really gotten better anywhere. he has the in between game but doesnt get to the rim nor does he hit outside shots. i just dont see it. he's still young, his outside shot probably gets better over the course of his career, but i dont think we need to wait around for that to manifest.

and at the 2 we already have vassell. castle figures to play some 2. and from what i saw yesterday, champagnie also was getting more run there as well (which makes sense with Barnes now taking a lot of the forward minutes along with keldon). hard to see a real path for branham here if he doesnt look better than any of those guys

at least with wesley you can see some growth in his game, even if at the NBA level it wont be enough to compensate for his lack of scoring... but at least theres some trajectory there. the PG position is also a bigger quesiton mark, with Paul on a 1 year deal, Tre expiring, and Castle as the only other prospect at that position (and while everyone sees him as a PG, its still within the range of outcomes that he settles in as 2-3)

i dont know that its a sure thing wesley's option gets picked up, but at this point id favor that over branham

very happy to see that we kept mamu. and there was almost a father-son dynamic to sean and jacob. jacob will definitely get more polished as the season progresses and he acclimates himself to the spurs.

Fun game for what it was...first preseason game with a bunch of guys who probably won't make the cut.

As for Jacob Tobey, I liked what I heard. He seems sharp about the game and the players on the court. He and Sean were having a few zoomer vs. boomer moments which was funny, but I hope that is not a shtick they continue all season.

i suspect malachi flynn is there as insurance for branham/wesley.

if they don't want to invest in them or pickup their options, i could see either of them get moved for a future second or something that will set this board on fire lol.

I'm a fan of the new announcer and thought he and Sean's conversation was pretty hilarious! Jacob's got to work into creating his own memes, which will take seasons (for any new play by play guy), plural. Sean likes him, which really showed in their back and forth. That's enough for me.

sochan's release on his 3 point shot still had the same slow delivery and hitch, but at least the shot didnt look 2 handed anymore and seemed like a nice backspin

I was drinking the kool aid when he got drafted and for a big chunk of last year, but I think it's time to cut bait on Sidy tbh. That shot hasn't improved at all and I haven't observed any impact defensively.

    Nope

I used that word bc I mean it, Tre has an above average IQ, he's lmited in terms of size and talent and knows it. He's not letting his ego try difficult stuff and focuses on (easier) stuff he knows he can do well. Hence him not trying much lob passes or having the lowest % of passes below the FT among all starting PG (Ask Timvip for the reference, he brought that info in his post season players analysis)

As I said multiple times, Tre is an overachiever, it's highly respectable and admirable

You're just being super sensitive and defensive for whatever reason (how old are you?) and go to the classic ad hominem technic vs whoever has a diff opinion than yours.

It's not flattering mate, you can do better

Jeremy Sochan : He was everywhere — but that shouldn’t be taken as a compliment.

Probably the best description of Sochan to date.

If Tre Jones gets back up PG minutes over Castle in the regular season, Pop needs to be fired. Jones has ONE year left on his deal. That’s it. He is very clearly NOT a part of our future. Castle is supposedly a HUGE part of our future. It makes zero (and KA means ZERO) sense to not give Castle minutes to develop as a back up PG in favor of Jones.

Pop wants Castle on the bench. Fine. He wants CP3 as our starting PG. fine again. But a line (for the good of the franchise) needs to be drawn with Castle being behind Jones on the PG depth chart.
