Great job. However, is he fully in charge of the coaching hires? Because if so, he still has work to do, though I imagine that won’t be feasible until the offseason. Maybe kick the tires on Castle’s UConn coach. We have a team that is becoming more attractive for a future coach hire.

To put it all in perspective, we got Fox for:

    Zach Collins (not in rotation)
    Sidy Cissoko (not in rotation)
Tre Jones (not needed with Fox Paul and Castle)
'25 Charlotte pick (not happening anyway)
'25 Chicago pick (not happening this year, and protected anyway)
'27 Spurs (Wemby and Fox will make sure this is 20+)
'31 Minnesota (We will forget about this by then)

Absolutely un ingreal rinsing. Kept Castle Vassell & Sochan, our pick this year while it may still be descent, BOTH Atlanta's picks, AND the Dallas pick, the Minnesota swap, AND didn't even give Sac their pick swap back LMAO. How the did we pull this off

That’s an amazing trade to pull off. Wow. Can still get my boy Rasheer Fleming
Quick reaction - Fleming and De Larrea should be real targets outside the top 10.

It was either the meme or the Hawks picks. Had to give up something valuable.

No wonder Wright took an extra day to think it over.

I've talked my fair of about Wright and Co the last couple of weeks; amazing trade, couldn't have asked for a better deal on paper.

Not too bad. Let's see what the Spurs do in the future. It takes more than a collection of talent to win... that talent has to be cohesive and work together. I think that's the question at this point. Hopefully Wright and Mitch are the answers.

The trade was fairly good for the Kings, if they had to lose Fox. Bulls needed to dump Lavine and weren't getting much anyway. It's technically a SAS fleece but it sort of helps everybody.

It's what lead here as much as anything.

Managed to get a protected first for DeRozan, who we weren't keeping.

The Charlotte pick was a throw-in in the Murray trade. It was looking like nothing but managed to become worthwhile anyway.

The Dillingham #8 was from moving Poeltl.

And then the SRPs are like cupcake sprinkles.

We maintain good draft odds for every year going forward I think other than one (2028?).

Brian Wright cooked hard on this one - instead of just leaning into the leverage advantage Fox gave him and fleecing the Kings outright, he correctly identified that different teams have different priorities and worked something out that benefits everyone.

Spurs - need their second star, got Fox
Kings - didn't want to bottom out, need more shooting, only a mild downgrade from Lavine to Fox and got lots of picks to compensate
Bulls - need to bottom out with 2 stacked drafts coming up, got off the Lavine contract so they can do that

Especially if the Bulls get a top 4 pick in 2025 or 2026, I don't think any fanbase necessarily feels like they got fleeced, meaning that Wright can continue to keep up good relations with these guys for future trades. "You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin it once"

leveraging the chicago pick in this trade was a masterclass move. sacto didnt want to rebuild and getting chicago to kick in lavine instead of us giving up an asset like vassell was great business. ive soured on vassell but hes definitely worth more than the bulls pick, plus this enabled freaking Zollins to be the salary match as opposed to devin.

Exactly this. It’s amazing to me how sports fans think of trades as “fleecing” or “robbing” someone as if it were a zero-sum game. That’s not how trade works. No GM willingly walks into a trade to get fleeced.

Rather, different teams are in different stages and have different needs. And so Wright correctly identified different teams’ different needs and came up with a trade that helps each of them in their own way, given where they want to go.

This ninja Brian Wright has single-handedly restored my faith in this FO moving forward.Totally love what he did with the options available.
If he pulls another move by Thursday, even better.

I now have a reason to live. Thanks and apologies for ever doubting you, BW Ninja GM.

    Great job Wright!

Was already mentioned above. But I wouldn't say they're suckers. Wright was able to give the other team what they want and maximized the value of the assets.

Bulls have been trying to get rid of lavine for a while now. Some posters here even is considering it for Spurs. I believe they wanted picks. So their own picks allows them to tank and flexibility to trade 2025/6/7/8 picks. Vs before it's locked. Even if it doesn't convey they still can't use it as an asset. They also get like 50m of space.

Kings don't wanna tank. Fox is leaving anyway. So they get a different star player with some bonus picks attached.

Kings fans seems reasonably happy. Bulls wasn't but they were really dropping lavine regardless
