i remember some forums used to offer a paid premium membership with some perks back in the day. maybe that could be the answer. god knows some of you spend enough time here

I like the lack of moderation here, it reminds me of pre internet centralization. The performance issues need fixed though.

I mean, it’s been quite some time (20 years+). Probably the majority of us are 35+ y/o now. Meaning, the lack of moderation is not as necessary as it was in the beginning. Anywaaays, the performance definitely needs some love. The “chaos” might feel fun and nostalgic but the uploading time does not ��
How much to crowd fund this honestly. I'm willing and able, though no clue how to actually do it so someone else would have to take that on lol
It's not about crowdfunding, it's about site ownership that's seemingly MIA.
Top tier forum hosting is like $300-500 per year, that's nothing considering the traffic spurstalk has.
If this place indeed goes down, I'd prefer us to get together and get a new forum running instead of using a subreddit.

I’m not familiar with website hosting…so how did things just randomly start working perfectly again after being total the past few days? Intuitively I would think that means timvp or someone did something to help resolve the issues, but is that not the case? Is it just pure randomness? Hard to imagine the website traffic suddenly dropped off so hard that the server works perfectly at the moment.
Whenever things go to I always assume its in some small (or large) part due to whatever shenanigans happen in the political forum.
They should just dump everything except The Club and the two Spurs forums. The Political forum is nothing but a cesspool.
