HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED HERE WHEN HE HAD THE CHANCE.
WE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HIS OPTION WHEN WE HAD THE CHANCE.

May be true. That's kind of beside the point to this argument, though. The Spurs organization is not, as far as I know, sitting around saying, "Oh, woe is we...we sure do need Speedy back. Whatever are we gonna do without Speedy? Oh, we want Speedy."

SPEEDY is the one with regrets, saying he would like to return to the Spurs. The choice we are discussing (to go or stay) was his. The Spurs matched the offer, Speedy picked the other team.

I completly agree. We would all take the bigger contract. Us spurs fans are just spoiled because of players, such as TOny, Duncan, and Manu, taking less money to stay. Most people aren't like them, including me.
Well, I think Duncan is making the MAX. I'm not sure he can be put in the same breath as Manu and Tony in terms of taking less than his market value. As for Tony and Manu, you really can't compare those two with Speedy b/c the yearly difference between what they make and what they could've of made and turned down is greater than what the yearly salary that Speedy actually accepted.

If I were in Speedy's situation, and I felt the same way about my game as he did. I would've done the same thing. I find it impossible to fault him for his decision to leave and improve his standing as a player. Any ambitious person would take the risk to do so rather than settling for less.

Not at all. It would have made it much easier to keep Speedy after the following season.

They sure were the past two seasons before signing Nick.

Ok. That still does not change the fact that what is being argued here is SPEEDY'S DECISION to leave. (at least that's all I'm arguing)

Mhmm. Ok. (I never heard anyone associated with the Spurs say that once. But, ok.)

    Is Jason Hart still here?

Is Beno the 1st PG off the bench?

I just thought that meant Jason didn't work out, and they felt they needed some additional insurance to go along with Beno - he is still here - and that Nick coincidentally became available and was willing to sign with the Spurs for the money they could offer him.

I did not know that meant they were pining for Speedy. You win.

I'll always have a fondness for Speedy. He almost made me total my Jeep on I35 after game 6 in 2003. I was on my way to get my T-shirts, and he dropped an F-bomb from the locker room on live radio. I couldn't stop laughing.

That being said, I'd never want him back. His injury track record is worse than Camby's. Some players just can't stay healthy.

I would love for Speedy to come back. If I'm not mistaken NVE's contract is only for one year, and I'm not sure what they'd do with him after the year is up. Speedy would be a great choice to replace him, and he is familiar with the Spurs system

Of course, cause he hasnt played well, or had good games at all this year.

    Moron.

If Speedy wants to come back, bring him back, no questions asked.

Package Beno the Dumb , and get a draft pick.

Use whatever it takes to bring Speedy back if need be.
