I just finished The Last Juror by John Grisham.
Pretty good. It wasn't my favorite novel of his, but very enjoyable.

Expanded? Got the Cliff's Notes version of the differences? (I have the original)
awesome!
I've got the Mote in hardback. I loved it.
but I'm still more of a Ringworld fan.
I never knew there was a sequal, I'll have to check it out.
Niven and Pournelle rock. I also have "Lucifer's Hammer" and "Footfall". I've heard of "Ringworld", but I've never read it (that's a Niven-only book, isn't it?)
I read that. It was pretty good.
I'm currently reading, The History of Love, by Nicole Krauss. Despite what the le implies, it's not one of those chick lit books.
Amazon.com
The History of Love spans of period of over 60 years and takes readers from Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe to present day Brighton Beach. At the center of each main character's psyche is the issue of loneliness, and the need to fill a void left empty by lost love. Leo Gursky is a retired locksmith who immigrates to New York after escaping SS officers in his native Poland, only to spend the last stage of his life terrified that no one will notice when he dies. ("I try to make a point of being seen. Sometimes when I'm out, I'll buy a juice even though I'm not thirsty.") Fourteen-year-old Alma Singer vacillates between wanting to memorialize her dead father and finding a way to lift her mother's veil of depression. At the same time, she's trying to save her brother Bird, who is convinced he may be the Messiah, from becoming a 10-year-old social pariah. As the connection between Leo and Alma is slowly unmasked, the desperation, along with the potential for salvation, of this unique pair is also revealed.
What's wrong with "chick lit" books? Escapism and/or entertainment needs to be pretentious now to be acceptable?
I'll proly start reading LOTR for the nth time very soon.
I am usually reading at least three books at a time (so I don't have to carry one around with me).
Right now, at home: Capital Crimes by Stuart Woods
At work: Blacklist by Sara Paretsky
In the truck (I always have a book in my vehicle in case I have to wait anywhere or if I want to eat lunch in the truck): Blowfly by Patricia Cornwell
I have a Robert B. Parker book in progress at my Mom's house, but I don't remember the le.
Travis,
I don't know the exact differences but this edition is published 10 years after the first and Hawking updated it with the new information that became available within those 10 years.
If you saw my book shelf, you'd know I have absolutely no problem with chick lit books
...Nora Roberts, Daniel Steel (I read her back in the day, don't like her books anymore), Sandra Brown, Sophia Kinsella.....
I said that for the guys, because the le may mislead them into thinking it was like a girly, romance book, when it's completely not. It's something people of all ages and sexes would enjoy.
Danielle Steele ... I've read every one of her books twice, now I just buy them because I amuse myself totally predicting every single thing that will happen in them. I'm right 98% of the time.
Jackie Collins is the best ... she writes like I do...waaaaay more trashy.![]()
She & Stephen King are my all-time favorites.
I did quite above-average in school, but I still hate reading things (for fun) that make me feel like my head will explode, but I still have to retain everything for the exam at the end.

That's so funny...that's exactly why I stopped reading Danielle Steel. Do you remember how popular she was back in the early 90's???
I've never read Jackie Collins, what kinds of books does she write? Similar to Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, etc?
She's the one who wrote Hollywood Wives ... I don't think a whole lot of explanation is necessary on her style.
I haven't found anyone yet who writes quite like her....she's very uncensored.![]()
Got ya.
I'll have to check out her books![]()
Finished The Martain Race by Gregory Benford last night.
On deck:
Camouflage by Joe Haldeman
A Confederacy Of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
