It's actually a remake of a film w/ the same le from the late 70's-early 80's w/ Scott Glenn in the lead role, I believe. Except in the original, it takes place in Europe and it is Italians who kidnap the girl.
I must've blocked that part from my memory. I don't remember it.
Interesting tid-bit for the nerds like me: The le comes from the quote "Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life" and is a metaphor for Denzel's character finding some love and security. Taking care of the little girl set him on fire.

She is annoying as . But yeah, Denzel is the man.
Is that where she is killing people and blaming it on her imaginary friend? Ive seen the preview, but again, its Dakota Fanning, so I have never seen it.
Great movie. I just wish he woulda ed them all up at the end instead of going quietly.
I totally agree. I am Sam is a great movie. Sean Penn should have won the Academy for Best Actor that year. Instead Denzel won for Training Day.
How can you not like Dakota Fanning? She is so cute/adorable.

Man on Fire was great, but I liked John Q. just a bit better.
