Get well soon!
I sliced my left patellar tendon nearly in half. I saw an ortho doc that was on Stone Oak Parkway, but I can't remember his name..
He was really cool and he referred me to a rehab place that treated me for months free of charge because they wouldn't take my insurance, but he wanted them to treat me (part owner maybe?). Anyway I really liked him and he actually didn't want to do surgery as a first option.
Hope you get better....
SW,
Wishing you all the best in finding a good Doc for your knee.

Dr. Ty Goletz- Specialties:Orthopedic Surgery

I recommend Dr Goletz. He treated me way back in 1988 and I never did have any problems with my right knee(Until I had an accident a year ago on a vehicle accident scene). My mother has worked with him in the OR... and he is not knife/scapel happy. IMO the BEST Orthopedic Surgeon in the US is Dr. Morganstern in Chicago, Il. which my mother also worked with him in the OR for many years. Got relatives up north? Good Luck SW!!!
adam harris.
not sure what all he can do for the knee specifically but he is good with what he does, looked at my knee when i thought i ed it up a few years ago, told me i had some torn cartlidge or something and that as long as it didnt bother me it was fine.
I don't have much either, and I used to sound like popcorn popping when I'd go up and down stairs. The pain came and went, but was especially bad when we'd have bad/rainy weather, even in the summertime. My pain has diminished considerably and I'm not so noisy on the stairs since I have been taking glucosamine and chondroitin every day. And, before I started taking it, the bursitis in my right shoulder was so bad I could not reach across the truck and roll the window down (or up) - I'd have to get out and walk around there if someone riding with me left the window down. I have virtually NO PAIN in my shoulders now, since I started the glucosamine regimen. My doctor advised me against taking it, said I needed surgery on my knees (at least one of them) right away. But, I had a friend who was on crutches, and about to have to start using a wheelchair part-time, on account of his knees. He started using glucosamine (which HIS doctor recommended!) and he's nearly painfree now.
I still may have to have surgery someday, but not as long as this is working.
You take the elevator to the 2nd FLOOR?!![]()
No, there is no elevator.![]()
Which sucks when getting up and down the stairs is very painful. One of our IT guys had a really bad motorcycle accident a few months ago and his leg was crushed. They had to move his office downstairs until he was able to make it on his own. There's another lady that has horrendous rheumatoid arthirtis, and it takes her about 15 minutes to get up them.![]()
He started using glucosamine
Thank you!!
I was trying to remember what the the name of that stuff was all weekend. I remember both my mom & the trainer I used to work with recommended it a while back and I was going to give that a shot, too, but couldn't remember the name of it.![]()
That's because you need this!

ditto. i popped my knee about 4 years ago and it i've been taking the gluco with chondroitin for about 2 months now...my pain was very rare though...i had to come down wrong to feel any pain. anyhow, so far so good. they have like 2 or 3 month supply bottles of the stuff at coscto for under 30 bux.![]()
Yeah, I buy the Member's Mark brand that contains both glucosamine and chondroitin at Sam's, it's a lot cheaper than MoveFree or the other name brands and I think it's just as effective.
One other thing, SpursWoman: I have another friend who lives in Kentucky and raises horses (her pain comes from a riding accident years ago) who tried the tablet form that I take and it didn't work at all for her. Someone else she knows suggested she try the liquid form and she has proclaimed it a MIRACLE. But it is a little more expensive. So, if you try the tablets and they don't work, give the liquid a shot.
Ive had total knee reconstructive surgery
Was it maybe,
Dr. Patrick Palmer? He did knee surgery on my daughter back in October. He did a wonderful job. He's located over on Stone Oak Parkway.
all i have to say is replacing your acl with another part of your body and scrapping out the torn miniscus disks and repairing my mcl was the worst pain in the world, i downed 2 months worth of vicatin in like 3 weeks...and it did nothing for the pain
Had a torn medial meniscus on my right knee scoped in Oct.
It is still not healed and I am not happy.
I Wish A Scoping Was All I Needed I Remember I Use To Walk Around Before I Had The Surgery And My Knee Would Just Pop Out Of Place And I Would Hit The Floor Like A Little Girl
How long can you not drive (if it's your right knee?) ... or otherwise get around semi-normally?
Dr. Vollmer (i think) did the surgery to repair my little brothers torn pcl/acl. He is in jail now for child porn though.
i had to go through a lot of rehab, just to learn to walk again....i still dont walk right to an extent cause of it, the dr even said that i might need surgery sometime in the future on my left knee now cause everyone tends to put more weight on the knee that isnt injured after they fix it
It just depends on what you have to have done. If it's just a scope, then you'll being driving pretty quickly. My daughter had both a scope and an open procedure and was up and around in a couple of days. She had to wear the brace thing for 2-3 weeks. But she would just pop it off when we got in the car and put it on when we got out and use her crutches to keep from bearing to much weight on it. But depending on what you have done, they might let you start bearing weight immediately. She went to rehab at a wonderful place on Stone Oak Pkwy. If I ever need rehab I want to go there. They are terrific.
SW, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Jesse DeLee for knees...I'm not sure if he is taking new patients but the guy is great...he literally wrote the book on orthroscopic kneesurgery...He has done three different scope jobs for me (from sports injuries) and they all turned out great...check out this link...
