Not gonna argue that one way or the other. My point wasn't to say that what he did should get him fired, but rather to point out that in most jobs today, that definitely would get you fired, and it would seem this sort of thing would apply even more to the job of a teacher. I don't see how this guy gets off with just a 10-day suspension.
This is one of those situations where the explanation sounds good in your head but you should still just keep your mouth shut...
We've all been there.
He doesn't seem like a racist but I don't believe it's very professional for a teacher to act like that. Surely teachers can be expected to maintain a certain level of decorum even when kids are running their mouths. I too am surprised that he received such a light punishment and also that the student is still in his class.
^Teacher was a dumbass, and that kid was overreacting.
