The fact that some people misinterpret the Bible to manipulate the masses doesn't invalidate what's written in there to begin with. But it's not my task to convince anyone of that.
By the way, we would know what Jesus would say on several issues of our day, becuase the Bible describes His character sufficiently enough to be able to make a good approximation.
For example Jesus would say no to abortion. And that may raise the ire of a few people here, but His stance on the matter would be as clear as black and white.
