Auburn was in Final 4 recently, and Penn St is in Big 10, the Ags can not help it that those two teams did not play well this year.
They won 8 straight Big 12 games, that is the longest streak in the Big 12 by any team this year.....nuff said
aggy played a weak schedule to make their record look like something its not.
Last i checked aggy isn't a mid-major, they may act like div 1aa but they are actually in a real conference and expected to compete.Go check out some of the schedules of those MVC schools

An A&M victory over Syracuse makes sense as a 12-over-5 upset special for your office bracket.
Well, conference play anyway, we played the same schedule you guys did. I guess applying your logic you didn't play anyone either, just an inflated record in conference of of weak teams...aggy played a weak schedule to make their record look like something its not.
There is something about Kent State and Wintrop that I like...
So the Big 12 is that weak?
UT seemed to have trouble with the team with an inflated record.Last i checked aggy isn't a mid-major, they may act like div 1aa but they are actually in a real conference and expected to compete.
you know ahf you really are dumb.
last i checked texas played villanova, duke, west virginia, memphis, tennesse, and iowa.
who did aggy play out of conference?
Ice, where did I say anything about non-conference? You're the dumb one.aggy played a weak schedule to make their record look like something its not.
So our 10-6 conference record, and half our win total, came against the same schedule in conference as you guys. Is that weak?aggy played a weak schedule to make their record look like something its not.
If Billy G thinks his team is great why does he not schedule a major school out of conference game on the road. The only non-conference team they played on the road that was decent (Pacific) and they lost.
So yes they did pad their record playing their 1st 10 games at home aganist teams.
Oh jeez louise. You guys are never satisfied. The Aggies made the tourney, just live with it. If they had ended up at the NIT you would've found something wrong with that as well. Get over yourselves.
It's only the second year of the rebuilding, give it time. With the new supposed studly recruits coming in next year I'd expect to see a couple "major schools" on the schedule.
I'm sure a lot of our Aggie friends here are in various stages of arousal over the fact that they're in a 5-12 matchup against a 'Cuse team they can thug up and outmuscle to a degree, and there are even some folks in a mescaline-induced fever about upsetting LSU and getting a shot at the Dookies, but let's get one thing straight.
Texas A&M is lucky to be here. Don't get me wrong, I gotta give credit to any team that goes .500 or better in the Big 12 no matter how lame their non-conference sked was (especially with Antoine Wright leaving early over the summer), but your team isn't better than Cincinnati's, Maryland's, Michigan's or Louisville's, either.
There's a MVC school (Missouri State) with an RPI over twenty points higher than the Aggies with four Top 50 wins to your teams' one, and they're in the NIT. I wouldn't give five bids to that conference either, but three out of their four teams that did qualify are seeded better than the 12 that A&M got.So what? Look who we played in conference. Go check out some of the schedules of those MVC schools and get back to me.
edit: Also, I really don't see Syracuse losing in the first round again after the Vermont debacle last year.

It's a night game on Thursday, right?
You are right, but I think they would get more exposure playing a better OOC schedule. We will see who they play next year.
Bla bla bla, angry aggies. They played a weak non conference schedule, and the big 12 did seem weak this year. I guess I have no problem with A&M being in and I think they have a shot at an upset.
They had contracts with Gonzaga, Georgia Tech, and Notre Dame lined up. But all the schools wanted A&M to play on their campus, but come play the "home game" with A&M in either Houston or Dallas (where the best recruits in the state are).If Billy G thinks his team is great why does he not schedule a major school out of conference game on the road. The only non-conference team they played on the road that was decent (Pacific) and they lost.
Billy said either play us at Reed on A&M's campus or change it so we'll come play in the nearest big city to you.
That didn't work out, so we had to scramble and picked up Southern, Savannah State, and I can't remember who the 3rd one was.
look face it, you're dumb and your team suckssip denial, I love it.
I think if I was Billy I would take the game no matter what, true you lose some home gate money but you can get some good press.
I don't know what it is but no one sounds like a real Aggy until they exclusively refer to coach Gillespe by his first and middle name
It wasn't so much about the gate money as it was about not giving a name school an easy opportunity to come into recruiting rich Dallas and Houston to try and cherry pick some kids out of those two cities for themselves.I think if I was Billy I would take the game no matter what, true you lose some home gate money but you can get some good press
You get what you play for...
Until Gillispie, at least for the last 20 yrs, the aTm program was just a "cheap date" for aggies to waste some time with an Aggie dog and Soda on DOLLAR night and wait for Maroon-White football scrimmage game in April. Big schools do not go to play "non-contenders" out of conference for the same reasons that most of you post that aTm should not be contender. It takes time to build. Billy Clyde knows that and he and Bill Byrne figured that into the "building equation" for aTm hoops. It just happened to come along earlier due to a very strong Big XII finish.
No fault to the Ags for a weak OOC schedule. That is the way it goes historically until the big out of conference teams see you as a viable option and risk for a potential win. Look for the Ags to get that chance in some preseason tournaments next year that they had NO WAY of getting into this year.
Ags are way ahead. Just to get there this year is a victory for the program. A win on Thursday would be HUGE, even if they go no farther (although Billy Clyde would vehemently disagree with that). I do not give them a chance vs LSU if they win on Thursday vs the CUSE, but it is a start.
