KG had the pieces two years ago, and thanks to bad management and himself being a compe or and not a champion, he blew it and is looking to a career of ring chasing like a Malone or Payton.
If a player was asked to show off their individual talent compromising the team, then lots of others like KG, Wade and Lebron could do what Kobe does. Kobe's unique in that he'll bite on that suggestion because he's full of himself. Taking 30 shots and scoring less than half while the Lakers get the loss is not impressive to those who only want to see a Team effort. Kobe is an overrated used by the NBA to promote ratings for potential marginal NBA fans who know nothing but names. Hence, the constant LA laker games nationally selected every week. Kobe's the most talented of the bunch, but his ego wastes it. Wade and Lebron will be much better than him in a few years.
As far as Kobe's bottom seed playoff spot, Phil Jackson has something to do with that Playoff spot. Way more than Kobe. Kobe is a big factor, but I don't think it woulda worked with a lesser coach.
I used to hate the lakers but now I just hate Kobe. Luke Walton, Lamar, Smush, Kwame, they're all just trying to make the playoffs and the only time Lakers get the win is when the rest of the team does what the coach asks of them. I can't even hate those guys for doing their job. Kobe is lucky to have Phil handling the team's output. Other than that Kobe is great at vaunting defenses, but it's never enough without his team getting their shots to fall. Kobe is all show.

Actually that was me. But I can see how our bravatars are similar.
