Let's put the blame on the Nets for not boxing out the first Indiana shot attempt and for attempting to take Anthony Johnson's jersey off his back as he came down the lane. Did it affect the shot? Probably not. In 9 out of 10 playoff games does that call decide a game? No. It was a foul.
Anthony Johnson stepped up and made both free throws. If it had gone the other way, we would be talking about why Johnson didn't get a foul call. The referees have been horrible this season, but you don't get to that they aren't uniform enough and then when a foul call decides a game.
This is a needless controversy. The rules are the rules, and if we're going to call ticky-tack fouls in the beginning of the game, if we're going to stop the hard fouls from back in the day because it may hurt the player, and in effect, hurt TV ratings and ticket sales, don't start ing now.
This is the NBA today.
