You should see Randolph AFB. It's always this way on Battle of Flowers day. And the Friday before any holiday weekend. There are normally 200-300 cars in the parking lot that my desk looks out over...right now, there are 16!
I remember when I used to work at the MEPS downtown, we got off 1/2 day because we had to be out of downtown before they started closing the streets at our end of downtown for the parade. The parade ended 1 block from where I worked on San Saba St. Those were the good old days. We'd walk over to El Mercado at lunch time and hit up the food booths; sometimes they'd give us freebies if we went over with guys in uniform.... It was also very cool to walk out of the building during Fiesta and have the carnival in your doorway! That was so much fun. And, remember La Semana Allegre? I hate that that's gone. That was such a fun part of Fiesta. Being down there during Fiesta is one of the few things I miss about working downtown.
On the other hand, I was there and working the year of the shooting on Battle of Flowers parade Friday. That year, they would NOT let us leave until about 4 or 4:30 PM. It seemed like that shooting thing went on forever. And I had my little sister at work with me that day because it was a short day; lots of people brought their kids with them on that day so they could play in the game room and watch TV since we didn't have many applicants to process due to the short day. That was a wild day.

I didn't participate in any Fiesta events...
I get off work at 2:30,,,then again I have to be at work at 6am....so decide for yourself if that is a good thing...it has advantages and drawbacks,

I work at home and i get bored all the time. My iTunes music is getting old because I listen to it for 4 hours mon-friday...same old crap everyday!
