I recorded the 03 WCF when it was replayed on NBA TV a few weeks ago. I thought Kerr hit all his 3Gs in the 4th, but he hit his first at the end of the 3rd, and SJax also hit a couple in that stretch.
As entertaining as the 3G hammers were, the Spurs' defense in the 4th showed no pity.
Given Timmy's expression, I think the caption inside this should read "FIBA sucks".
Dirk's smilin because Bowen is in a child's safety seat in that picture.
This is my favorite new NBA delusion -- that Bowen can guard Dirk. Not without 4 other Spurs he can't. Bowen is completely outmatched one-on-one against Dirk.
Dirk should be able to toy with Bowen, he has like 6 inches on him.
And Manu started off the threes, IIRC. The championship DVD has the end of each clinching game. Since that's the only time the '03 team played to their potential, it's a blast to watch. I think Kerr's defense in that stretch was just as important as his shots because of what it did for the team and to the opponent.
That's exactly right. Dirk is supposedly an MVP candidate. There is absolutely no reason he shouldn't have his way with Bowen through the entire series.
Now watch as Dirk chokes again and gets owned this series.

Well.. unfortuantely your team won't play Dirk one-on-one.. and you have a pretty good team defense. It's just like Dirk in the Rockets series last season, it wasn't Ryan Bowen or Tmac that was hurting Dirk.. it was the entire Rockets defense, his teammates underperforming and Avery's coaching. Hopefully all of those things have changed this time around.
I'm sick of reading on the Mavs board about how they'll take game 1 because the Spurs are old and tired.
I'd love nothing more than to see the Spurs come out with a hop to their step and a gleam in their eye.
