Halo as a game is mediocre at best compared to a PC FPS, its definately the best console FPS ever but nothing new to whats been done with PC games, it lags behind in that department (anyone who thinks otherwise is ing kidding themselves). I love the story though and cant wait to see what Peter Jackson is going to do with it. I hope its what Doom should have been... I could have directed and written a better script than that piece of . They should have followed the novel Dafydd ab Hugh wrote for Doom.... Those books where awesome.

I'd say the original Halo is the second best console FPS of all time. Most of the time I can't stand playing FPS' with a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse, but there have been a few console games I was able to live with, the afore mentioned Goldeneye 007 being one. I like the controls of the Ghost Recon games too. I hope the Campaign in Halo 3 isn't as disappointing as it was in Halo 2.

Yep Peter Jackson is directing it.

As I said in another thread, the storyline to Halo is simply awesome. And this will not be one of those sissy ass like game into movie type deals like Doom or Tomb Raider.

This will be a major event. And knowing how Peter Jackson is a perfectionist.... I bet you anything Halo the movie will be the first of two more. A movie for each game completing the trilogy.

Halo is and pretty much will be the Star Wars of this generation.

I remember hearing about the crazy rumor that Denzel Washington was going to play MC turned out to be that just a rumor due to the fact that Washington and PJ had a meeting about a movie that washington was going to direct thank GOD it was a rumor because MC is not black hopefully they will just get a stunt man and then just have Steve Downes voice over

I still remember buying Halo Combat Evolved when I bought the XBOX no one was really expecting Halo to be big it sorta came out of no where and developed a huge cult following and now look 3 games and a movie out soon

halo was getting a lot of hype before that as a PC game during development, then microsoft bought bungie and made it xbox exclusive and delayed it at least a year while it was ported. they were banking on it being big.

I dislike console FPSs for the most part. It just feels wrong. It's like taking your car and replacing the steering wheel with a joystick. It just feels wrong.

PC > Console

But the first couple games were pretty decent by console standards, but there are just plain better first person shooters.

F.E.A.R. multiplayer is free and actually good. CS, HL2, BF42/BF2, DoD, FC, ect are all better IMO.

peter jackson is not directing it. He is producing it, he tried to get Guellermo del Toro to direct it, but he turned him down to finish boy 2.
The director's name is Neil Blomkamp, and it is his first time directing a major film

Honestly, I can't believe the success it has had. I've played the game offline, boring. I've played it online, boring. I just can't get into that game. Everyone says how the graphics are soo much better but they always look the same to me. I just don't get it. The maps are rather plain and boring (for me atleast), and there's not much strategy either. But, one big reason I don't really like it is because it's a FPS and I like TPS's. Don't get me all wrong though, a couple games online is fun and all, but its the same damn thing everytime you get online, nothing changes.

i hate how they changed the music too...I'll take gregorian style chants over piano anyday...

online should be a beast though....that game still gets the most gamers playing at all times than any other xbox game. You can sign on at 2am, 3am, 4am and still find a game...granted you'll be playing with japanese kids, and europeans.
