Spurs will lose if Pop doesn't ditch the small-ball approach. We'd better start Rasho and keep him in there for big minutes so Tim will have help in the paint. I even think Nazr could be a big help, as long as no expects him to be a scoring threat. On offense, use his big body to set high picks for Tony and Manu. Sure, Nazr fumbles the ball a lot, so just don't pass it to him. Use him for picks and rebounds.

Spurs have no chance if Tim is expected to be the only big man in the Spurs frontcourt. He'll rack up fouls be out of the game again.

    Did benching Manu accomplish anything?

Manu didn't start and the Spurs were outscored ONLY in the first quarter.

So did not starting him help the Spurs or hurt them?
Actually, I was thinking about that also. I think the move may have helped Barry a little more so than Manu. I know Barry's been playing aggressive since the near trade, but I liked him starting. He had a few hustle plays, some smart passes...I think for this series it works out better that he starts and Manu comes off the bench.

I do think Horry needs to get out of the starting lineup. Put in Rasho/Nazr. I know Nazr has been insanely horrible, but I do think a lot of his sucking is mental. Especially since he'd been outsted out of the starting job, then yelled at for that 3 pointer, then gone to the 3rd man on rotation. He's looking rusty from lack of playing time as well.

I hate to sound like AHF, but Pop's crazy rotations and subs utions are hurting the team more than helping, I think.

Except we didn't get our asses kicked. We only lost by 1 point. I will say we got our asses kicked in Game 2, however

    ^ RACK good come back

You would think after Jeff vexler ran off all Mav callers off the radio and said the Spurs will sweep he would come out and say he was wrong?

I will be the first to say the Mavs got thier ass's waxed if they lose game 4 and I won't even bring up the refs, or Dirks leg. To bad only 5 other posters out of 400 on this board can do the same.

    Who cares about the starters?

Who starts, who benches- that's not a problem on a team like SAS that basically has two starting lineups. The problem isn't starters, it's the strategy.

Send Barry, Rasho, Finley, Nazi, Beno, Oberto, Horry to 90% of the teams in the NBA and see if they would not be in the starting lineup. All these guys are fine players.

Oberto did a respectable job in Game 3 although his nerves probably got to him a bit, but that's Pop's fault. It's ish to send a guy in like that at crunch time, in playoff action, and having not seen any action since the regular season ended.

In spite of all that, he still did a good job and got some important offensive boards, very significant considering the few minutes he played.

I hate to say it but I just feel it in my bones that the Spurs goose is cooked this time. But time will reveal the eventual outcome. May the best team, the most deserving team, be the winner.

Whatever lineup changes, Pop needs to make sure the starters can sustain the Dallas attack. Oberto said he hasn't expected to be called to play. WTF? If pop choose to use Oberto, please get him prepared beforehand. If Pop uses Barry as starter, make sure every starters are ready for the changes and don't let Maverick to take advantage of it. Don't assume your players are capable of doing any adjustments as they are veterans. I think Avery knows Pop's weaknesses and is taking advantage of it.
