finley was getting the axe regardless of whether he would accept coming off the bench or not, but otherwise i agree.
I'm sorry, but isn't the reason you gave for Finley joining the Spurs the most logical and applauded action for athletes leaving teams?
I've NEVER seen an athlete chastised for giving up MONEY and PLAYING TIME for the pursuit of a CHAMPIONSHIP.
We often hear critics call athletes selfish that leave their teams stictly for money! Now, I certainly do not see Nash as selfish, but it's amazing how the logical flips the other way when talking about him. Finley was dropped and Nash left - booing oonly Finley simply doesn't follow logic. As someone said, you can't make the argument that you're booing only Finley's colors -- otherwise you'd be booing when ANY Spur touched the ball.
You simply can't tell Finley what team he should play for after you drop him.
Guess what, Finley is also a classy guy, and he helped the Mavs franchise tremendously, even more than Nash in my opinion. Unfortunately, the fact is about 70% of all fans are only causal fans and have limited basketball knowledge and sense of history. Its a shame.
