Is Jailhouse still open? They used to have a HUGE Friggin CFS..
Nothing like eating a steak while sitting next to a huge indoor tree![]()
Is Jailhouse still open? They used to have a HUGE Friggin CFS..
Tip Top was always my favorite. It beat the out of Good Time Charlie's chicken fried steak, and the thing was ing huge. Tip Top always had a pretty long wait to get in whenever I went.
I love the chicken fried steak from Acadiana Cafe. I always order the cfs there with the stuffed potato, broccoli/cheese and a biscuit........Mmmmmm :p

TT does it for me. I've said this more than one thread, they have a special on Tuesdays. I believe it's 5.95 for CFS and two sides. Get there early, they're usually very packed.
ARRGGGGGHHHH
I am lusting for a CFS from like Jailhouse... (hungry)
Tip Tops cool too but I think Jailhouse is better..

Bud Jones CFS is bigger but...
You cannot beat
Tip Top
the three best places are
1. Bud Jones
2. Lulu's Cafe
3. Luby's
WTF???
CFS with beans? Yuk!
Mama's Cafe. Those mashed potatoes are to die for, and the CFS is excellent. Lots of good cream gravy (not too salty like some places). Cheap, too. I have only eaten CFS at the one at the Forum, though.
tip top and don't forget the onion rings![]()
Yea that's just random picture.. but the beans.. that's asking for a disaster at the toilet.
trust me on this one..... EVERYONE needs their fiber![]()
I'd take gay abc's recomendation on this one honey. Gay men know everything there is to know about steak.![]()
Green beans are a nice smooth stool. The Beans ... hope your not driving anywhere...
I have been struggling to keep my weight down but I can't stop eating the San Antonio good...
My bad Col is 250 or something.. "walking dead" level.
the places mentioned in this thread are hard to go wrong with, they are all good for chicken fried steak. I would add a chain to the mix. Texas Roadhouse.
Interestingly enough, I haven't been to the ones here in San Antonio. The one in Victoria was nothing special. The one in Waco was out of this world. I guess they vary from location to location.
DAMN HOW COULD I FORGET THE RINGS AT TIP TOP!!!
I'M HUNGRY!!!!!
Yes! Yes! How could I forget the Texas Roadhouse? They have excellent, delicious CFS! I guess I forgot it because I don't usually have that there (there are so many good things on the menu). I usually have the chicken ceasar salad (yum!) or my all-time favorite: Roadkill. And their baked potatoes rock - I've never gotten a bad one. And I think the quality of the food does vary between locations; I didn't like the one in Dallas (and I wouldn't go to one for a long, long time because of a bad experience), but the one at the Forum is excellent. I guess the reason Mama's came to mind so quickly is I had chicken fried steak there last Saturday.Chili's CFS is not bad, either, and they also have delicious gravy and mashed potatoes; but I don't get that a lot there, either, because there is always SO DANGED MUCH of it...I usually get the Monterey Chicken or the Old Timer burger with cheese.
The best tasting Cchicken Fried steak can be found at "The Iron Skillet" in the Petro truckstop at I-10 and Akerman.
The biggest has to go to 'Bud Jones"!
