I think Pop rarely showed that side because of the confidence he has from having Duncan on his team and on his side. He knew he was going to win it all at some point.

Hacking Shaq or Bowen or Ben Wallace is such a weak move by any team. Remember one game where Rodman was hacked over and over but ended up hitting more FT than usual. Shaq was way off tonight though.

I agree that was stupid. If you want to play hack-a-Shaq then that's ok, but at least wait until you get into the penalty, then you can start hacking. Don't put yourself into the penalty just to start hacking Shaq, cause if you end up in the penalty you'll also be putting other, better FT shooters on the line.

I thought Riley made a major error in OT pulling Shaq too early though. The Mavs started fouling Shaq to get into the penalty and Riley actually pulled Shaq before they were in the penalty. Should've let them keep fouling Shaq until they were in the penalty and then pulled Shaq before he had to shoot any free throws...
