But sometimes I wonder what is going on during the complaining about calls - I frequently see folks talk to the refs after calls, but what I see frequently appears to be more the sake of clarification (like, did I touch him? what was wrong with that?) than for really arguing (though it happens, just like everywhere in the NBA). And I see Timmy talking to the refs a lot - as the team captain will do. Any chance that maybe he's taken on that roll for the team.
As long as they aren't causing an actual delay of game or screwing with the plays because of talking to the refs, then I don't care as long as it stays on court. A call may not be reversed (but, yeah, sometimes the refs 'confer' on calls), but you might not get another questionable call against you.
As for fans - well, I kinda think the fans have every right to complain about officials - after all, they get the advantage of slow motion replays and expert commentary to assist them. There is a point when it is carried too far - I think a lot of Spurs fans approached that line or crossed it after the Dallas series (myself included), and I think most of Dallas exists on the other side of that line, Mark and now Avery are consistently there (I lost just about all respect for Avery with his little press stunt after Game 5 - dude, be a man and complain and take the fine or shut the up).
