That's two cheap years to figure out if he's going to pan out to be anything.
Sure. Young legs is also under a rookie contract 'til 2008.

They could do cheap with the rest of the supporting cast.
Eric Williams...in for...BRUCE BOWEN.
C'mon, help 'em out!
:/
Yeah let's get Stephe Ajckson back so he can assault people in the stands.
Yeah they didn't want him here because he had too many run-ins with Pop, but he's done a lot to rehab his image since then.
(That's sarcasm in case I'm not being clear.)
I agree. We do need a forwards. However, if we trade Brent for JR Smith, we get rid of Barry's contract, which to many is not worth it or too much. In exchange we get younger and save a bunch of money. I think this is the main reason why people (Spurs fans) are excited about the possibility of getting Smith.
Has he done anything since the McDonalds game of note?
Yeah I get that. It's just that 11 roster spaces are already filled. I'm interested in trading Barry for a more needed piece, seeing as there aren't many roster spots available.
That is part of what I wonder... It seems like NO would want to include another player in a trade for Brent- not using all that cap space just to get Brent Barry. In that case people are celebrating getting rid of Rasho's and Brent's contracts but they will have taken back 4 players for 2- having 12 guys already- and still not have another point guard, a long 3, or a traditional center of any type. They will have a bunch of PF's- none of which are the type the Spurs need- and SG's.
Tim
Rob
Fabricio
Bonner
Williams-- will he even ever be a Spur??
Bruce
Finley
Manu
JR Smith
Tony
Beno
NO player #2
This does not even inlcude Robertas- who would be #13.
So far to me it appears that the Spurs are making decisions that are purely financial and not basketball-related- surely not addressing the basketball needs of the team, but the bottom line money-wise. Sorry if I don't get excited about those moves. Pop is noticeably absent from all the press conferences, media interviews, and radio broadcasts. He is the coach now and I am sure his priorities are about the game, but the organization seems to be focused on the money right now.
Mikale Pietrus is a possiblity for you.
Are the Warriors looking to move him?
So I have heard...he's athletic and a great defender with a bigger upside offensively than Bruce. He'd be a good replacement.
And I didn't pick him out of thin air.

Stojakovic also opted out of his last year with Indiana, so he's a free agent.
There'd have to be more to it than just Pietrus for Barry though. Any other names?
Second time you have mentioned him-- could there be discussion of Brent for Pietrus. I had thought the only way to get him was to take on Derek Fisher's awful contract.
Brent/Beno for Pietrus/Fisher
furry,
Give them some credit. They need to do some adjusting on the money aspect to address the needs of the team. Kinda hard to tackle what we need (PG, long 3, starting PF) with the LLE and MLE.So far to me it appears that the Spurs are making decisions that are purely financial and not basketball-related- surely not addressing the basketball needs of the team, but the bottom line money-wise.
You don't know what other trades are coming down the pipe so it's kind of weak to be criticizing them for addressing needs, it's not even July 1 yet.
Pop's never been at the PCs, media interviews, and radio broadcasts during the off-season, not sure why you're bent out of shape about that.Sorry if I don't get excited about those moves. Pop is noticeably absent from all the press conferences, media interviews, and radio broadcasts.
Pietrus is a baller, but I doubt we get him
I believe he's been out of town.
With the Spurs working out draft prospects, Pop is out of town?
I don't know how long he's been out of town. I just heard he wasn't in town the day that Bonner arrived.
I would not be shocked if he joined Rasho in Toronto.
For the fans that wouldn't take J.R. Smith....aare u serious??.Just because he is 6'6" not 6'8" please...I would take J.R. Smith for many reasons....one is that he is a young athletic wing that is quick enough to guard a josh howard or a jerry stackhouse....all of our wing players except manu and bruce got exposed by stackhouse and howard everytime the mavs ran isolation with howard and stack....2. he can shoot the three with effeciency, penetrate, and finish around the rim with authority......3. hes only 21 and has a bright future ahead of him ...with the guidence of pop and tim he has a world of potential......with manu turning 30 and finley turning 34...J.R. Smith would be a huge pickup...for us next year and the future...

lol and by the way...if we got j.r smith he would be in the 8 man rotation NOT the 11th man...ahead of bonner oberto williams and even beno as beno would see 15 minutes as the 9th man backing up tony
Where can i post J.R. Smith's youtube highlights? anyone?
The only way I take JR Smith if I am the Spurs, is I get rid of one of the guards, which is more than likely going to be Barry. I think thats the way it goes down if it goes down. I'd love to have him with the Spurs. He is only 21 and needs a change of atmosphere.
