okay... i didnt know about the slapping and punching and pulling of hair... im sorry and i apologize i heard they where arguing and he lost it and hit her on the head.. again i was wrong i thought i was a bit less serious... so yeah this myers is a wife beating pussy.... i concur. if what jblaze says is true
So if I understand you correctly... it would not be abuse, in your opinion, if he was just arguing and he lost it and hit her on the head.. ???? Also does it matter to you if she was hit using and open palm or a closed fist? Just curious?

Myers' wife told police she believed her husband hit her twice in the face with a closed fist. Witnesses told police Myers dragged his wife by the hair and slapped her across the face. Procopio said it is unclear if Myers punched his wife or slapped her, but he did strike her in the face.

He's making 3.3 million this season. Couldn't he have just hired Jeff Gillooly and stayed out of all this?

Agreed, he already dropped the ball on that Kerrigan business. He got busted and failed to take the target out of commission. I say hire the Philly Phanatic. No one ever suspects the large fuzzy mascot.

if it was the first time it happened and he just lost control and slapped her it would be assault and not spousal abuse... i mean its just as ed up but people act like just because someone slaps a woman hes the lowest lowlife s of the earth... i know that im going to get flamed worse than i got flamed im my other advice thread but sometimes women provoke you so u lose it... im not sayig thats the case and i personally havent ever hit a girl well exept my sister, ive beat the out of her plenty of times in straight up fights but still... u guys act like just because a guy hits a girl he deserves the chair... we dont know what happened sometimes.. again i say this not in this specific case but in a general sense that sometimes the guy whos supposibly a spousal abuser isnt always at 100 fault... ive see chicks who would push and hit guys and tell them hit me u asshole hit me i know u want to you pussy and even though the guys is trying to get out the door or turn around she would punch him or slap him so he loses it.

So there now u can flame me all you want and say im a idiot for thinking like i do. some women are es..

There were witnesses...many witnesses who saw the whole thing on a public street; if you want to slap your woman around and don't want anyone to know about it, do it at home, not on a frickin' public street - and good luck with that anyway. And it's not the first time he's done this. If it was his word against hers, and no one had seen it, I'd agree with you to wait until a trial. But...with eye-witnesses, not so much.
Well then it should be a quick trial. Still doesn't mean the guy should be buried before declared guilty.

Why the rush in our society to tear people, especially those in the spotlight, down?

he was arrested for allegedly twice hitting his wife in the head with his fist as the two argued on a sidewalk near their Boston hotel. He is free on $200 bail, and after his performance yesterday, the most he could say about the sorry episode was, ``I'm sorry it had to get public. Of course, it's embarrassing . . . But my teammates have been great. They've been behind me 100 percent. That's all I've got."

that makes me want to puke. WHAT THE ?????

After wife's request, charges dropped vs. Phils' Myers
    Associated Press

    Update: ESPN

BOSTON -- An abuse charge against Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Brett Myers was dismissed Thursday after his wife said she did not want her husband prosecuted for hitting her in the face during an argument near Fenway Park.

Boston Municipal Judge Raymond Dougan accepted as fact that Myers struck his wife on June 23 but dismissed the charge -- despite the objection of prosecutors -- after Kim Myers agreed to an "accord of satisfaction" showing she did not want the charge pursued.

"There's no violence in our family. That night in Boston we had both been drinking," Kim Myers told the judge. "I was not hurt. I was not injured."

Authorities say the two were arguing when Brett Myers struck his wife. One witness told investigators he pulled her hair.

Police responded to a 911 call and found Myers' wife crying and with a swollen face, prosecutors said. Officers found Myers nearby and arrested him. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Myers was booked by Boston police, and his wife posted his $200 bail.

"There appears to be no coercion or pressure that resulted in this being filed," Dougan said of the accord, though he acknowledged it's hard to identify coercion in domestic violence cases.

The judge noted the couple has been in marriage counseling since shortly after the fight.

Assistant District Attorney Susan Terrey had wanted Myers to plead guilty to assault, serve two years of probation, enter a program for spousal abusers and undergo alcohol abuse evaluation.

Kim Myers said the counseling has helped the couple, who have two children, and she denied other physical abuse.

"This is not something that happens on a daily basis," she said. "Or ever."

Myers, a right-hander and ace of the Phillies staff, finished the regular season 12-7 with a 3.91 ERA. He was treated as a celebrity by court officers, who shook his hand and patted him on the back. One told him, "Good luck, it will be all right," while another said, "Nice seeing you again."

Myers did not speak at the hearing and the couple refused comment afterward.
