I talked about this in another thread a couple days ago. He's one guy I would like to see on the Spurs even though his contract is a little long.

Ummm first of all who would we give up in order to get murphy? We would have to trad 3-4 guys just to add up to his bloated contract. we need a backup pg lets get Derek Fisher while we are at it. He would be a perfect backup pg even though his contract is bloated . NO on getting murphy because of that bloated contract and us having to trade and in ways blowup the team in order to get him.

A $10 mill contract is a huge risk for the Spurs at this point, for that long. Effectively, if Troy Murphy doesn't work out, there's no way of moving that contract, plus any other moves are hamstrung.

He can defend the post (especially against big men who like the turnaround jumpshot, although he can bang with power players as well) and the perimeter, and he's tough. Sounds like an upgrade over Nazr's defense (though not Rasho's).

golden state doesn't want him and there're good reasons why. overpaid, plays ZERO defense, afraid to take it inside. he can rebound, but that's the only aspect of his game that would help the spurs. nazr could rebound too, but that wasn't good enough, i guess. i don't see why murphy would be.
