I see him now with the hawks
hawks have the capspace and they striked out on sam
Barry, Beno and Oberto for Claxton and JR Smith would be fantastic. NO wanted Barry. Beno had his career high versus the Hornets. Oberto will give them even more size that they need.
It's a pipe dream right now but who knows.

Jr is already promised in a trade i thought
Looks like the Hawks, Cavs, and Suns have all contacted Claxton. I wonder if the Spurs are even considering it.
It seems the Spurs are much more interested in size. Believing Udrih (plus Watson+) can backup the point, with limited resources they'd rather get their C or PF. Maybe a S&T is off the board, hasn't occurred to them, or is not yet a priority.
Who knows?
If Speedy wasn't the point guard version of Marcus Camby, I'd want him here for whatever it took. But because of his injuries, I can't justify offering him more than a three-year deal ... and that just won't get it done.
It makes sense for both teams. Such a deal would turn on whether the Hornets are interested in Udrih or not.
So the Spurs go after Pryzbilla, he eventually gets someone to give him fifty million dollars and the Spurs are stuck hoping that Javtokas blows up next season.
who the says spurs would sign joel for 50 million?
Speedy wants more $ and a longer deal than the Spurs will pay for a back-up point guard. They have needs ahead of that. Smart signing by NO- who doesn't need Barry anymore. That isn't going to happen- let it go.
talk was 5 million a year for 5 years
You would think so considering that Bobby Jackson might be the only point guard in the league more fragile than Speedy Claxton.
why are the suns after speedy?
do they not think they can resign their backup point now?
Spurs fans don't realize that Barbosa isn't a point guard. The guy is Antonio Daniels but even less of a point guard. The reason he's as good as he is lies with the back-to-back MVP spoon feeding him and the shooters creating wide open lanes.
Barbosa's greatness is a top ten Spurs fan myth.
I disagree he's not a point guard but he's a very talented player who has explosive athleticism and can play the playthe 2 some despite being 6'3 because of his freakish wingspan.
Agreed. Barbosa is made for that system in Phoenix. He wouldn't be nearly as effective a more traditional offense. Dude is scary fast though.
So instead of the Spurs making a run at Claxton he goes to the Suns and gives Nash a backup so Nash doesn't have to play 50 minutes a night. Nice.
suns have money problems
signing speedy for 5 years starting at 6 is going to be a mistake
unless they let Barbosa WAlk
and just resign diaw
and keem marion
his coach will still have to play him 50 minutes he does not like to use his bench
plus speedy will be hurt all the time so ...
Then wtf are the Spurs?
Not sure what their plan is but they have some more money to work with now that Tim Thomas has gone to the Clippers.
really?
look at their payroll
they still have to extend diaw and Barbosa
they might just keep marion now
