Are you serious? You can play him as a three, so put together a lineup that calls for a backup three and he can be there.

ok u can always have finley at the 3 or manu...they will be on the court at the sametime....i only see williams playing as if horry or bonner is hurt

ya the only way that will happen its if the game is about over...and duncan wont even be on the court....i dont see that happening

Um, the only time Williams would play anything BUT the 3 would be at the end of a game where the lineups dont matter or if opposings teams decided to trot out SF's at the PF position.

I have not read this entire thread but just thought I would throw in some information i have. Take it as you may...

Erik Williams was in my bar last week at the Westin La Cantera talking to a realtor for probably about 4 hours about houses in the area. If the Spurs plan to turn around and ship him out I dont get the impression they told him that.

Also, the guy is very cool, laid back and easy going and I think he would be a good addition to the team.

Well if I could tell you that I would but all I know from talking to the guy is what I said. Some people do care about the character of this team. Those are the people that comment was to.

I am just fairly certain the guy was looking to spend 2 mill on a summer home in San Antonio. So dont be suprised if the Spurs have actually told him to take off his shoes and stay a while.

I like what Williams brings to the table. Thats why I said I think he would be a good addition. Not because he was a nice guy.

Williams is another 30+ year old forward along with: Horry, Oberto, Finley, Bowen, and Duncan. We need to get working on obtaining a younger rotation.

Dude take the coach out of your username, because you have no clue what your talking about. Williams is a three, who can play the 4 when teams go small. Do your homework, before you make yourself look more stupid.

I hope he comes, stays and is happy here for the next year. He was a great huslte guy in Jersey, can defend, and is a good team/community guy too.

He's our new Malik ROse without the proclivity for bad shot selection.

He is also perfect filler while we look for our new young 3 over the next year.

Glad to have you here Eric, even if only for a year.

Isn't Williams contract for this year a player's option? Doesn't he have to exercise his option or else he becomes a free agent? I'd prefer the cap space if that's the case, if we'd be under the cap that is.

Very good defender off the bench.

Aggressive offensively , from what little I remember of him. I would say keep him.

He had to exercise it before the end of June. He did. TOR traded him because of it. If he hadn't, it would have been Oberto for Bonner, straight up.

    Does he have a pulse?
Good question. He still had one when he was in Jersey, but he looked DOA in Toronto. Bad system or just D-U-N done? Who knows? We'll see if and when he gets here, I guess.

Is his contract expiring next year?
    Yes.
