A Scanner Darkly

Rotoscoping is hardly new. The technique was developed in the 1930's (by the Fleischers, I believe, who did the Betty Boop cartoons) and was an animation staple for decades.

I haven't seen all of A Scanner Darkly (only a few scenes, actually), but I did see Waking Life, which was Linklater's first film using the technique. I would have liked that film just as much without the rotoscoping, but it didn't bother me to look at.

Yes, but it's previously established that you give all about realism so I'm not sure how objective your opinion is on this subject.

I'm quite fond of realism, actually, but that doesn't mean I need it to be an integral part of each of my movie going experiences.

the rotoscope took a while to get used to, but it may have helped keanu be a little more palatable. good adaptation, but i don't think i could watch it twice because of the rotoscope.
