I like the end of Return of the G - Outkast ...

Return of the gangsta thanks ta'
them s that get the wrong impression of expression
Then the question is Big Boi what's up with Andre?
Is he in a cult? Is he on drugs? Is he gay?
When y'all gon' break up? When y'all gon' wake up?
I'm feelin' better than ever what's wrong with you
    you get down!

    [Big Boi]
Man a don't want no trouble
a playa just want to kick back with my gators off
and watch my lli'l Gull blow bubbles
    But still ready to rhyme
standin' my ground never back down
Willin' to rob steal & kill any thang that threatens mine
But good luck couldn't be bought see
many a fights had to be fought G
for a to ride these Vogues
oh so close to the sidewalk to be gawked at
watch your side my 'cause we got gats
the first to buck gon' be the first we attack
don't want that but it comes though
most of the time you don't know
Stickin' together like flour and water to make that
slow dough we worked for everything we have
and gon' stick up for each other like we
    brothers from another mother
Kinda like Mel Gibson and Danny Glover
strictly for the Caddy lovers and never the
    nut huggin' punk mother ers

Common - I Used To Love Her.

    [Chorus]
Yes yes y'all and you don't stop
    1,2 y'all and you don't stop
Yes yes y'all and you don't stop
    1,2 Com-Sense is gonna' drop

    Verse One:

I met this girl, when I was 10 years old
And what I loved most, she had so much soul
She was old school, when I was just a shorty
Never knew throughout my life she would be there for me
on the regular, not a church girl, she was secular
Not about the money, no studs was mic checkin her
But I respected her, she hit me in the heart
A few New York z, had did her in the park
But she was there for me, and I was there for her
Pull out a chair for her, turn on the air for her
and just cool out, cool out and listen to her
Sittin on bone, wishin that I could do her
Eventually if it was meant to be, then it would be
cuz' we related, physically and mentally
And she was fun then, I'd be geeked when she'd come around
Slim was fresh jo, when she was underground
Original, pure untampered and down sister
Boy I tell ya, I miss her

    [Chorus]
Yes yes y'all and you don't stop
    1,2 y'all and you don't stop
Yes yes y'all and you don't stop
    1,2 Com-Sense is gonna' drop

    Verse Two:

    Now periodically I would see
ol' girl at the clubs, and at the house parties
She didn't have a body but she started gettin' thick quick
Did a couple of videos and became afrocentric
Out goes the weave, in goes the braids beads medallions
She was on that tip about, stoppin the violence
About my people she was teachin me
But not preachin to me but speakin to me
in a method that was leisurely, so easily I approached
She dug my rap, that's how we got close
But then she broke to the West coast, and that was cool
Cause around the same time, I went away to school
And I'm a man of expandin', so why should I stand in her way?
She probably get her money in L.A.
And she did stud, she got big pub but what was foul
She said that the pro-black, was goin out of style
She said, "Afrocentricity, was of the past."
So she got into R&B hip-house bass and jazz
Now black music is black music and it's all good
I wasn't salty, she was with the boys in the hood
Cause that was good for her, she was becomin well rounded
I thought it was dope how she was on that freestyle
Just havin' fun, not worried about anyone
And you could tell, by how her ties hung

    [Chorus]
Yes yes y'all and you don't stop
    1,2 y'all and you don't stop
Yes yes y'all and you don't stop
    1,2 Com-Sense is gonna' drop

    Verse Three:

I might've failed to mention that the chick was creative
But once the man got to her, he altered the native
Told her if she got an image and a gimmick
That she could make money, and she did it like a dummy
Now I see her in commercials, she's universal
She used to only swing it with the inner-city circle
Now she be in the burbs lookin' rock and dressin' hip
And on some dumb , when she comes to the city
Talkin about poppin glocks, servin rocks, and hittin switches
Now she's a gangsta rollin with gangsta es
Always smokin blunts and gettin drunk
Tellin me sad stories, now she only s with the funk
Stressin how hardcore and real she is
She was really the realest, before she got into show-biz
I did her, not just to say that I did it
But I'm committed, but so many z hit it
That she's just not the same lettin all these groupies do her
I see z slammin her, and takin her to the sewer
But I'ma take her back hopin that the stop
Cause who I'm talkin bout y'all is hip-hop

Sit back and listen to this devious tale
I'm talkin about the country from which you all hail
Built on the bodies of Indians and slaves
A story of destiny and the land that it craves
It happen to be genocide in the 1st degree
But now it's called American pride the land of the free
So when you wave your flag and tell me love it or leave it
You think of the price tag, revolution will see it
Comin around the corner and it can't be stopped
It's the big bad Mexican with the glock ed
They slaughtered woman and children and at Wounded Knee
No conscience about Hiroshima or Nagasaki
The blood on your hands! The blood on your hands!
The blood on your hands stains the glory for which you stand!

gotta have something from the ruler:

Well I'm sittin on my lunch break, grinnin my teeth (my teeth)
It's the last day of the week, boy what a relief (relief)
My muscles kind of ache, they felt rigid and stuff
so I looked around, and I smoked this big fat spliff
Now I'm happy as can be I'm in this pothead spell
I put some Visine in my eyes so that no one can tell
It's 12:55 almost time for the bell
Put the breathmints in the mouth so that the mouth don't smell
Now back on the job, I don't bother no one
I keep strictly to myself and all my work gets done
Now the job's finally over it's time to have fun
and I'm hangin out with Trevor there's a kid named John
Got real drunker than a skunk and happy as can be
We went, to the Latin Quarters and we got in free
Scoopin all the girls like nuttin with my trunk jewelry
cause I'ma fly brown brother and you can't school me
Boogie Down was performin hey they ain't no joke
And a bunch of Brooklyn kids was lookin all down my throat
Was it my big chains with the big plates on em?
Then they rolled on me and told me to run em

This was the moment I feared...
"Hey yo homeboy take off your chains man
Bout to hurt you real in bad, I'm gonna you up"
This was the moment I feared...
"Yo what's the matter stupid? Take the s off man!
    The is up?"

I said, "They're really not real, they're just a front for the girls"
Then a whole bunch of fists just, caved my world
I was in pain, so ashamed, I wish I had not came
Had to kindly pick up my face and then ride home on the train, then
I went to an open store that's where I brought/bought me a quart
Then I went to the park, and I sat and I thought
I seen Danny Boy though he's with his girl named Sarah
in one of his cars, I think this one's a Bravera
She calls out to me, but, I really couldn't hear her
So I went just a little bit closer so I'd hear a little clearer
She said, "I need Veronica Blades that's right near Tilden"
I said, "I know where that's at cause that's right next to my building"
I gave em the information and they went on their way
I went home, and there I slept til almost three the next day
Then someone knocked on my door, I opened up, no quit!
It was Sarah with some magazines and a bag named Kit
She tried to use me and seduce me and at first I wasn't with it
Then we did it and we did it and we did it and WE DID IT
She said it was great, she said she's glad we had done it
The elevator came and Danny Boy was on it

This was the moment I feared...
"Hey yo what the 's goin on here?
What you doin to my girl homeboy?"
This was the moment I feared...
"Oh I just KNOW y'all didn't just finish in
I just KNOW y'all ain't just finish in"

Well he was huffin and puffin and he swung at me -- word
So I pulled out my jammy and I silenced the nerd
Then he was dead two in the head I took the cash and the Visa's
She said, "Don't worry about a thing just make sure nobody sees us"
We went back to her apartment, there was blow in the freezers
She said, "We're rich we're rich we can have whatever will please us"
Now I don't hang with no one who ain't good for my health
So I put the sugarhead out and I went for self
Now I was rich as I was rich I could have whatever would please me
Now I could wear real gold in front of folks that would tease me
Yah me, I'll be a new neighborhood dad
Cats'll roll up on me screamin, "Yo Rick my man!!"
I guess I was too fly word up I'm sorry to say
Ya see a cop rolled up on me and told me, "Make my day"
I said, "Relax brother," but he had proof that I had done it
Yah they had false hair on underwear with my fingerprints all on it
This was the rise and fall of my fast lane style
And I was the main event on the TV for a while
but now I'm in jail doin life and I'm scared
Some kids snuffed me cold and greased me where no one dared

This was the moment I feared...
    "Turn around (HAHAHAHA)
    Spread your cheeks"
This was the moment I feared...
    "UHH, AOWWHWHWAA! STOP STOP! AHAOWWHAHAOOHO"

    [Intro/Chorus: Ol Dirty/Osirus]

    As high as Wu-Tang get
    Allah allow us pop this
    Just like black shoe fit
If you can't wear it, well don't with it!

    [Verse One: The Genius/GZA]

Yo, too many songs, weak rhymes that's mad long
Make it brief Son, half short and twice strong
No doubt, it took time searchin, eventually
it was prime urgent, for you to examine the rhyme merchant
Lace MC's with styles when they rhyme drunk
On a label hunt, until twenty thou, out the trunk
Eight Diagram sword swinga armored tank force
RZA throw in the disc but then change the bank source
You can't flow, must be the speech impediment
You got lost off the snare off Impeach the President
Whether in Amsterdam smokin seven grams of green
then you pack, a thousand white teens in tight jeans
This Witty Unpredictable shot is critical
to analytical analogy, insurance policies why
Said he know that sounds define the note
Couldn't recognize, blast him the behind the ropes
Too many dope z I see starvin
Catch a single deal, a possible plea bargain
Wu slay regardles to whom or what, five mics five nights
Hang him from the balcony, drop twenty-five flights
A fugitive bass playin rap czar
smoke the cigars, his prints on the strings of his guitar

    [Chorus]

    [Verse Two: Method Man/Iron Lung]

Tical got a hold on ya, doin exactly
what the I mariju-wanta, dis nasty
Deep in the dirty dungeon, buggin, lovin
the ways these rhymes keep comin, at cha splash ya
Get your head piece fractured, with killer cuts
prone to drops ya, slash ya, rip up
Got this whole thing Tang mastered, sho nuff
An MC too good to be touched, John John
bring the phenomenon, I cold crush
MC, inferiorities they froze up, ice cold
as we move on, saga unfold
Captivated by a saga that go untold, like Goldfinger
    Caught up in a cliffhanger
Yo I-N-S another code red, danger, break out the vest
Now it's tactical warfare, it's all here
Come with your shield and hardware, it be on here
Don't ever roam, in the naked city
    Eight Fingers stories none pretty
Bomb em wit the Witty Unpredictable, conditionin be critical
Peace to Tang, gettin high on your physical, dis next drink
is a toast to your memory
When I go how many z gon' remember me

I think Backspin 43 (Old School Hip-Hop) is the station I listen to the most on my SatRadio.

    "Fight The Power" - PE
As the rhythm designed to bounce
What counts is that the rhymes
    Designed to fill your mind
Now that you've realized the prides arrived
We got to pump the stuff to make us tough
    from the heart
    It's a start, a work of art
To revolutionize make a change nothin's strange
People, people we are the same
    No we're not the same
Cause we don't know the game
What we need is awareness, we can't get careless
    You say what is this?

Raw creation, my nation is trapped, packed like animals
Hannibal canibals lurkin in streets which are flammable
A rastless, hustler's aimin, for the intangible meat
I'm too deep, checkin if beats are compatible
Brain lit off shots, body counts become plural
Hand me a mic, I paint a picture on your mural
Vision of streets, summer's blood, when you need peroxide
Never on the cop's side since my man's pops died
Nuttin's correct to life it's lopside, and eyed
I ain't Popeye, so I front hard, to make my glock hot
Thoughts react to the impossible, kill the probable
Constable obstacles, haunt me like my future in a hospital
Until them days, my ways'll be unstoppable
    Undroppable, undodgeable, mainly focus illogical
To know it to show it the poet'll grab the Moet
I blow it before I flow it, topics I sew it pockets I dought it
Legitimate cash is the only thing I cream
So the knowledge I fiend, until I raise my seed
Too much greed exceeds, leaves the next man to bleed
Little kids don't read, they're out of touch with we
So I proceed, to make you hear it, just to lead you
with spirits of lyrics, cause I need you, I need you
    No doubt son

Lyrics I need you, I breed you, I need you
Lyrics... I need you, I breed you
Lyrics... I need you... I breed you
Lyrics... I need you, I breed you

    Check it
I civilize the unwise when I rise to my potential
The instrumental, enables me to move my pencil
    Coincidental, to Eintsein's radical mental
Kickin like orientals far from gentle I'm essential
When I speak it yo I leak it I freak it, until you peep it
Gun clappers like creep and sneak it, rappers love to critique it
Hey yo they honor us, like a foreigner with a genre
Accounted for visualizing more bodies than a coroner
My streets are evil, minds are feeble run illegal
Livin savage like eagles chainin my people to a needle
While my cerebral, blesses the mic like a cathedral
Thoughts'll lead you verbals'll feed you to seed you I breed you
to head you like psychics I came to read you hip-hop I love you
and I need you rhythmatic automatic fanatic bringin the static
Rappers they panic stay frantic, while I relax on hammocks
Island gigantic volcanic, hard to find, like the anic
I came to slam it, to hold it down like the granite
Lyric mechanic organic from the Eastern Atlantic
I run dynamic bendin rappers like they ceramic
Throughout the planet I scampered the banner, that's how I ran it
A genuflection goes out, to those in correction
for recollection, I use the Common Sense Resurrection
So use protection when you step in my direction
Lyric injection, could cause infection in your section
There's no reflection, in this professional selection
Give mic inspections, so I can hold it with affection
Beat perfection, carouse the mental in erection
So vote perfection, House of Reps run elections son

Lyrics I need you, I breed you, I need you
Lyrics... I need you, I breed you
Lyrics... I need you... I breed you
Lyrics... I need you, I breed you

    House of Reps, KD, what?
Yeah, you know the deal son, keep it real son
You know the deal son, keep it real son

A lot of heavy metal is crap, but some is very good. The big difference I see is that hip hop generally isn't even comprised of original melodies. Now I may not be able to distinguish hip hop from rap, but I hear a great deal of stealing tracks from other popular songs and then putting some kind of rap to it. That is ridiculous in my opinion and shows absolutely no musical talent.

    Ummm...actual instruments being played...maybe?

Using words of more than 2-3 syllables...maybe?

Being able to relate to certain bands and songs...maybe?

Those are just off the top of my head. I am sorry, no one on this board has lived the lifestyle most (ie ALL) rap talks about. , most of the rappers themselves havent. Maybe you slanged a QP once in awhile....whoopety-doo.

That doesnt equate to getting in gunfights with police, rolling drive-bys, and cooking rock in one of your hos apartment.

Thats why I hate it. Because I know 99.9% of the listening audience has never even seen, much less lived, what they 'rap/talk' about. Its fake. Its unpure. And speaks volumes about the people who consume this trash.

What instrument does 50 Cent play? How bout Eminem?

I have a modi of respect for the DJs. I have respect for the actual music/beat composers like Gza the Genius and Dr Dre. They compose hooks that sell millions of records.

I have no respect for any of the front men. Theyre just the flavor of the month.

This month/year its "get dumb" and E40 for NorCal. Next month/year its Fakin Gangsta starring Wiglet, featuring MC Pimptastic, with a special guest appearance from Lil Monkey, in collaboration with Big Daddy Slang.

Its a ing hoax that you dumb white kids actually bought into. It would have come and gone the way of disco, but instead, I am going to have to drill into my childrens head that what they are listening to isnt music. That not one of those individuals you like have any real talent besides putting the most ignorant words together to sound "cool" or "hard". And when two words dont ryhme, just make one up....those dumb white kids will buy anything.

do you really want to be associated with this guy?

Rap/hiphop to me is just like any other genre of music -- a lot of it sucks, but some of it is good.

I find considerably more hiphop songs that I like than country or heavy metal songs.

    To each his own.

Cradle of Filth would be okay without the vocals.

    Ummm...actual instruments being played...maybe?

Using words of more than 2-3 syllables...maybe?
    We're Not Gonna Take It

Oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

we've Got The Right To Choose And
there Ain't No Way We'll Lose It
this Is Our Life, This Is Our Song
we'll Fight The Powers That Be Just
    don't Pick Our Destiny 'cause
you Don't Know Us, You Don't Belong

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

    oh You're So Condescending
    your Gall Is Never Ending
we Don't Want Nothin', Not A Thing From You
your Life Is Trite And Jaded
    boring And Confiscated
if That's Your Best, Your Best Won't Do

    oh.....................
    oh.....................
    we're Right/yeah
    we're Free/yeah
    we'll Fight/yeah
    you'll See/yeah

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
    no Way!

Yeah, that really raised the bar for intelligent lyrics.

Being able to relate to certain bands and songs...maybe?
Hopefully, not the ones where the metal bands are taking about worshipping Satan, right?

Those are just off the top of my head. I am sorry, no one on this board has lived the lifestyle most (ie ALL) rap talks about. , most of the rappers themselves havent. Maybe you slanged a QP once in awhile....whoopety-doo.

That doesnt equate to getting in gunfights with police, rolling drive-bys, and cooking rock in one of your hos apartment.
Honestly, I don't keep up with current charting hip hop. And I'm not here to represent some black-wannabe "posse." I just like the music I like.

On the other hand, I know plenty of music that qualifies as hip hop that (a) is brilliant (b) has absolutely nothing to do with being a "gangsta."

Kid Koala is ing brilliant turntablism -- in his version of "Basin St. Blues," he does things with a turntable that I flatly had no idea could be done. He makes a pretty compelling case that a turntable can be as legit a jazz solo instrument as a saxophone or a trumpet. And guess what -- he doesn't make a single reference to "hos" or "drivebys" or whatever else it is that you think ALL hip hop is about.

What instrument does 50 Cent play? How bout Eminem?
I don't think Billie Holiday or Ella Fitzgerald played an instrument either. To most of us, that doesn't disqualify vocal jazz as a genre of music.

I have a modi of respect for the DJs. I have respect for the actual music/beat composers like Gza the Genius and Dr Dre. They compose hooks that sell millions of records.

I have no respect for any of the front men. Theyre just the flavor of the month.
There have been some gifted rappers over the years. Q-Tip from Tribe Called Quest is probably my favorite. I don't know if there was ever actually a month that he was the flavor of, but he brought a genuine gift to what he did. Others like Eminem and Snoop Dogg seem to have a genuine talent for the medium, but I'm really not all that into what they rap about, so I don't listen to them very much.

Its a ing hoax that you dumb white kids actually bought into. It would have come and gone the way of disco, but instead, I am going to have to drill into my childrens head that what they are listening to isnt music.
Oh please. I'm 36. If I bought into it as a kid, it was back when it was Run-DMC and LL Cool J.

And disco was mostly just white people ripping off funk -- which was real music.

do you really want to be associated with this guy?
Lots of people who listen to pretty much any genre of music are absurd. Does that mean I shouldn't listen to music anymore? Or just that I should stop giving a crap what anybody thinks and listen to whatever I enjoy listening to?

If you can tell me which one of those guys doesn't look like a bag ... I'd agree with you.

Listen to some Chevelle. I don't know if they are heavy metal, but they are hard rock.

    "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)"

    Some will learn; many do.
Cover up or spread it out.
    Turn around, had enough,
Pick and choose or pass it on.
    Buying in, heading for
    Suffer now or suffer then.
    It's bad enough
I want the fear... need the fear

    [Pre-Chorus]
Cause he's alone (he has become)
    He's alone (he has become)

    [Chorus:]
Well if they're making it, making it
Then they're pushing it, pushing it
    And they're leading us along
The hassle of all the screaming fits
    That panic makes remorse

    After all, what's the point?
    Course levitation is possible.
If you're a fly; achieved and gone
Theres time for this and so much more.
    It's typical - create a world
A special place of my design
To never cope or never care just use the key

    [Pre-Chorus]
Cause he's alone (where have we gone)
He's alone (where have we gone)

    [Chorus]

    Over and Over a slave
    Became
    Over and Over a slave
    Became
    Over and Over a slave
    Became
    Over and Over a slave
    Became

    [Chorus x2]
