Thanks, Buddah.

You want to wait that long for a long 3? The sadness is spreading.

Let me dream for a second...

I have to agree with the others that said Bowen ... it may not have seen like much at the time ... but he has entrenched himself into the city and has sacrificed his own money for the good of his team. Without knowing the specifics of the older FA signings, I'd go with Bowen.
Me too.
When we got him I was a little skeptical with the "this is the guy who will guard Kobe" mentality. Because nobody can stop Kobe...but he's done a of a job slowing him and down and making him work.
Yeah, but we can probably get him for half the MLE then.
BTW, the real answer is obviously Bowen. Unless you can think of another FA who was a starter for two Spurs championship teams.
Cleveland has been trying to do a Drew Gooden + scrub for TP for some time now.

That's funny.![]()
that list is completely pathetic.
if the spurs didn't tank the pre-duncan season, this team would have been a perpetual lottery team after robinson's retirement. cheap bas s didn't even want to pay him either.
Francisco Elson.
No one else is even close.
sucking != tanking

Easily Bruce Bowen (can you believe he came here for the minimum?). He did the best job I've ever seen anybody do on Kobe in that second round series vs LA in 2003. Without Bruce, I'm 99% sure LA marches on to a 4-peat, minimum. Bruce completely shut down Hamilton in the first two games of the 2005 Finals, and then he shut down a blazing-hot Chauncey Billups late in the OT of game 5... then, he destroyed Billups again in game 7, capping it off with one of the 5 greatest plays in Spurs history with 51 seconds to go in the season. Bruce has already earned himself a place as a Spurs legend, with David Robinson, George Gervin, James Silas, Sean Elliott, and Tim Duncan. He's going to be one the Spurs I will miss most when he finally calls it quits. I just can't say enough about how much Bruce changed the face of this team. Until him, the Spurs had no answer for any team with a good guard (after Sean's illness forced his first retirement). Without Bruce Bowen, 99 is the only banner we'd be seeing in the AT&T Center.
Manu was a draft pick.
Honestly, I was never more excited than when we signed NIQUE!!!!The ORIGINAL #21

I never really thought of him in that high a light before ... but now that I think about it, you're right. Impressive for only being with us for a few years.
so were Scola and Javtokas, but spurs didn't seem to be able to sign them.
There was so little to be excited about back then.
LOL. I love those photos and the caption. Yeah, Bowen gets my vote, too.
If you consider 5 years a few, then I understand. Five years, five first or second All Defense teams. He came for the minimum, and already re-structured once to allow SA to sign or re-sign players. Number 12 will be hanging from the rafters one day. BOOK IT.
