That depends... are they still using NBA refs? IF so, the refs will job the Euros and cost them a chance at winning. C R O O K E D
Yeah cause FIBA refs are freakin awesome!!!! FIBA refs had a lot to do with us sucking the last olympics, especially when duncan would pick up about 3 fouls in the first 3 minutes of a game and wasnt able to play. Compared to FIBA, NBA refs look like gods.

No in way man. For example Argentina or Lithuania of 2004 would easily advance a few rounds of the playoffs.

They might win a couple games (I would say maybe 1 or 2) but they would not win 4 out of 7 against an NBA team let alone "easily advance a few rounds." That's just in stupid.

You must be joking. I'll be shocked if Bowen doesn't make the 12 man roster.

By everything I'm hearing, they are super impressed with Wade, Melo, and Paul so far.

Who knows what will happen though. The team is stacked; it's hard to pick the starters.
Interesting -- no offense to 'Melo, but I would have thought he would be a horrible fit in FIBA ball.

No point in arguing cuz we'll never be able to prove it, but I just don't Argentina or Lithuania being able to win even a 1st round playoff series.
Under NBA rules, I expect you're right. Under FIBA rules, they might be contenders. The game is rather different.

I agree, I would be shocked if Bowen doesn't make the team. They need a player like him and seem to have finally realized that this time.

    I'm thinking:

    Chris Paul
    Lebron
    Wade
    Brand
    Howard

No way are they going to have Wade coming off the bench...
I would agree with Lebron over Melo. No way Lebron comes off the bench.

Hopefully Melo wins a starting spot and will shut up the haters.

I know it wont change that much though coz ESPN will always ride Lebron and Wade's jockstraps, its more marketable.

I understand Melo has been one of the most impressive players in workouts so far and wouldn't be surprised if he starts. But there's a long way to go before the games begin. A few more of his friends could get caught with weed by then or a mul ude of other things could happen

Dude that is his own fault. He would probably be just as marketable if he gave up trying to be a pretend gansta.

pretend gangsta? Smoking weed makes you a pretend gangsta?

Half the NBA must be pretending to be gangstas then

    Projected Starters:

Based on our observations, several guys on this squad derserve to start (and we may see multiple lineups over the course of the summer), but there can only be five on the floor to start that first game. Here's who we think that could be:

Point Guard: When you have a group of guys that are not used to playing with each other, you need a true point to run the show and Chris Paul has been the class of the true point guards in camp. Gilbert Arenas is certainly deserving of a starting spot as well.

Shooting Guard: The man who just may be the best player in the world right now: Dwyane Wade.

Small Forward: LeBron James will be a mismatch everytime he steps on the floor during international compe ion.

Power Forward: In order to get another shooter on the floor, we think Coach K will go with Carmelo Anthony here, but Elton Brand is definitely a possibility.

Center: Dwight Howard is a beast. He even looks huge standing next to Amare Stoudemire. He threw down two vicious dunks in the span of a minute during Monday's controlled scrimmage and every player we spoke to thought that he's in store for a coming out party very soon. Brand could get the start here as well if Coach K wants to go with a little more experience.
