Texas is a Big 12 team, aren't they? Didn't I say they have an easy schedule?

SEC and Big 10 are the big dog conferences right now.

IMO there is a HUGE diff between tough & Very tough.
VERY TOUGH would be teams that are in most PRUDENT & Realistic preseason top 10.

    VERY TOUGH Sched:
    --------------------
UT plays Ohio St AND Oklahoma.
    USC plays (1) ND.

I think even an expert like Phil Steele would agree that Big 12 is MUCH harder Conf than PAC-10. Ask around how accurate Phil Steele is with college FB.
I believe the PSteele 2006 rankings are Big 12 #2 & PAC way down @ #5 just above the Big East. The Big (freakin') Easy more like it. Hey, PAC 10 had to above someone right?

...well, i agree that @ ARK COULD jump up and be a close game. my thoughts on the line:

    1. the two tackles (Williams? & Baker?) will be fantastic
    2. Byers seems to be finally healthy, and although a concern...not a big one
    3. the other guard position i am not sure on, probably be Rachal who will be fine, although the weakest of the group
    4. Kalil is absolute money @ center

....all in all, i'd say we will have a damn good line. what the problem is?

I guess we'll have to see how well that damn good line dominates Ark won't we? I look forward to it very much.

It depends on how you look at it I think... the Big 12 has two potential national le contenders, OU and UT (though I think UT finishes with at least 3 losses this year). All teams after that will be lucky to be in the top 25 at the end of the season.

The Pac-10 only has one potential national le contender, USC (who I think finishes with 4 losses this year). But they have a bunch of teams who are likely to end up ranked 8-20 at the end of the season.

The elite in the Big 12 are better than the elite in the Pac-10, but week in and week out I think the Pac-10 is tougher this year.

With that said, the SEC, Big 10, and ACC are all tougher conferences IMO... in that order.

If Ohio St beats UT then they'd be a fav to go to the FIESTA (for the BCS NATIONAL Championship) because ou & USC will both lose at least 1 game. ou in early Oct in Dallas & USC prob vs Ark OR, vs Cal or ND which they have in back-to-back games. Can't see a Big-10 team beating the Bucks this yr.

Good to see you support your team. But your sc goggles blind your perception of reality.

Here's reality - sc has lost too much leadership from the QB position to make up for a lackluster defense on the national level. The only thing that may help them is that they play in the pac 10
i agree that losing the qb leadership will make a huge difference. but i also believe that 2 groups will carry the team: the receivers and the defense. i'm not saying that the defense will shut people out, but there will be a huge improvement. we were decimated last year because of injuries. we get back our starting cornerbacks and one safety, which also allows for pinkard to move back to his position at safety. we also return 3 linebackers that were injured for most of the season. also, look for rey maualuga to have a huge year.

with that being said, i think usc will lose a couple games, but could win the conference and go to the rose bowl. i would be perfectly happy with that.

Rey & Oscar will be an awesome 2some.

LJ is expected to give opposing QBs headaches (literally).

WRs, what can u say about that bunch. DJ, SS et al...
I wonder if Vidal will be the next uber stud WR that SC has.

Besides your C & OT-Baker I'm not sold on the o-line being solid.
Beat most teams yes, beat tough or elite teams?...I don't know.

i think rey will have a great year now that he doesn't have to worry about his dad's situation anymore (he died a few days before the rose bowl). i think cushing could have a great year too after shoulder surgery. i just hope they both get the playing time.

in addition to jarrett and smith, we also return patrick turner. he could have a solid year too. he and booty made a nice duo when they played together last year. vidal could definitely be the next, but also look out for travon patterson. he is super fast and keary colbert was already impressed.

the o-line won't be great at first. kalil and baker will be. byers could be if healthy. kyle williams has alot of game time (not much starting though). unfortunately, chilo rachal won't be able to build on his great spring now that he is academically ineligible. we'll see.

Man! How could I forget about Turner???

That's why I said "lackluster defense on the national level". I have no doubt you'll beat the ASU's, Oregon's, and UCLA's - but I don't see you containing top flight programs, or mediocre ones consistently game to game. The offense saved your season last year, and that won't be there again. I am not sold on Booty, I just don't think he'll get it done enough to overcome on the national stage.

...well thats where we disagree. i think they will be good enough to contain them, and even if they are not i think USC can still outscore them. you seriously underrate the, still, best offense in the nation. thats right i said it....

...i think these preseason rankings, over the first 3-5 weeks in CFB, will be proven correct. watch.

    1. USC will be fantastic
    2. ARK is not going to beat LSU, sorry
    3. Notre Dame might be the most overrated team i have ever seen, at this point. the media is in love with the fat man...i see them 2-2 after the first four games, not only b/c thay have a tough going, but they are not a top 10 team4. i really think Cal is the second best team in the Pac 10...Oregon is very very close behind. UCLA i look at as more of a 24-25th best team in the country. Oregon is top 15, imo...

    ...don't doubt the Trojans Baby!!!

everyone was projecting them to be 1-4 at the end of their first five games last year.

I do not believe they will be 2-2, the offense hardly lost anything as well as the defense. their incoming recruits are also very good. I think they will be in a very good situation.

I also think that USC will be fantastic. They have some insane guys coming in and have had a number of very good players that have simply not been able to afford the luxury of playing time.

    10. California
The only way WVU doesn't make the top-5 (or even the top-3 for that matter) is if they lose to Luoisville on Nov 2nd. This team is for real (ask Georgia). It would be one thing if they lost a lot of starting players, but their team last year was mainly Freshmen and Sop res, including the sensational duo of White (QB-So) and Slaton (RB-So).

    uo - overrated
WVa - can win as fav; only a dog
    SEC won't have 3 in top 6
Cal gets to be USC's again
Winner of Ohio /UT game meets Miami for le (SC will stumble against UCLA or Ducks or someone - been too charmed too long).
Looks like Miami was my only err as well.
