Very well said! I also think of Bruce as a locker room leader. He will keep the likes of Carmello and Arenas focused on the big picture. In 2004, Carmello had the big head and maybe now he has learned his lesson and will perform like we all hope he can.( for the USA team only......I want him to play like CRAP for the nuggets)sorry but i can see him being an All Star for the Nuggets next season

I watched about 20 seconds of that game. As soon as I heard broken record Bill Walton say Bruce Bowen the OLDEST player on the team, click went my remote. I am so sick of hearing stupid insignificant like that. Thats all Bill Walton harps on, the age of someone or some other ''tragedy'' about them.
But, if Bowen nails a three-pointer, Walton then suddenly claims that Bowen is the greatest player in the history of the NBA!

Bruce is the best defender in the NBA, although Wallace always win the damn prize because hes flashy and big, even Kobe says Bowen is the toughest, smartest and most difficult person to play against in the game these days.
People that Bowen slaps and hits people, he is going for the ball mopst of the time, and his insanely quick feet always keep him in front of the player to cut off a drive to the basket... FIBA stars are in a world of hurt when Bowen unleashes the Art of Defense on them.
I would like to see USA and Argentina in the final match to see Bruce vs Manu.... crafty veteren defense vs el contortionist's ballistic out of control lane attacks.... hope they dont hurt each other... Pop's head would explode.
I agree, I think Bowen is the best defender in the league. Yes, he gets away with more contact than most players but that's just the way it is in the NBA. He's reached the level where he has the respect of the refs and they're not going to call the same fouls on him as they do other players. It's the same as some offensive stars (Wade, LeBron, Kobe, Dirk, Duncan, etc.) get calls other players wouldn't get. If you're playing against him you just have to fight thru that bias.
Battier is the best. no question. Bruce is second. Battier has quick feet and can block shots. no hand checking needed. he could actually guard Nowitzki.
All I can go by is the results of the offensive player and while Battier is a good defender, Dirk abused him that whole playoff series. The Griz had to eventually change up their tatics against Dirk cuz Battier couldn't handle him. I will say that Battier wasn't allowed to do the stuff against Dirk that Bowen is allowed to. Battier was in foul trouble a lot those 4 games.

What a bunch of BS. Battier has a much slower first step than Bowen and isn't near the perimeter defender that Bowen is.
