I understand the talk of Battier being a better "all around player" but better defender?

Don't worry about this Louis guy Lori. S/he used to hang out on alt.sports.basketball.nba.sa-spurs forum, and make stupid predictions, just to get a reaction. Nobody knows if s/he is really a Rockets fan, but s/he does, for some strange reason, have an immense hatred for the Spurs.
It started way back in the late 90's.
We all thought that s/he will grow out of it, but apparently not.
BTW, his/her predictions about the Spurs got so ridiculous, s/he became known as the anti-prophet. S/he would avoid anti-prediciting the games the Spurs could actually lose, and kept coming in and making anti-predictions about suckass teams.
I still couldn't figure out his/her motivation, probably just need some attention.
BTW, his email used to be something about myballs.

How did you decide that? Just opponent's PPG?

What about FG% D or other factors?

just check the season Defensive player of the Year list since Bruce joined the Spurs.

BTW, how come the tallest player in the NBA Yao Ming is not on the list of NBA's top rebounders and top shotblockers?

Is it okay for me to say he's "soft"?

This was all laughable to NBAniks, of course, because Bowen is past his prime at age 35, and Shane Battier was a better defender than Bruce last season (to say nothing of his superior skills in other areas).
I like Shane Battier as a defender but Bruce is still a better defender.

D-Wade was interviewed this summer (ESPN, I think) and he was asked who was the toughest defender on him and he said "Ron Artest or Bruce Bowen". Did anyone else see that interview? He also said that Artest and Bowen don't go for the fakes.

Ron's a more physical defender but it's a proven fact, just hit him in the lip and he gets distracted and makes too many mistakes to lock anyone down.

Ron's not miles ahead of anyone...except maybe Matt Bonner or Kiwi Marks.

Battier is a slightly better flopper, plus he has corn rows, even when he's bald.

    Nuff Said!

Convince me he doesn't suck. Right now, I' just want to hear your logic on this one.

I really don't care that Battier gets more offensive touches, how many is he getting when he's on the court with Lebron, Wade, etc.?

You aren't the only completely stupid Rockettes homer Spur fan baiter named Louis in the world? Interesting. I'll believe it when you bring anything that isn't as weak as TMac's back.

    Battier 10.1 ppg
    Bowen 7.5 ppg

That's sensible, as there are only 11 guys on the team who averaged 15 or more points last year. The USA team is averaging 115 points per game, so that extra 2.6 points from Battier will put USA over the top against Germany or Argentina.

I beg to differ. Bowen's perimeter defense the last three or four years was at a Hall of Fame level. Is he HOFer? No. But without his defense on Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Shawn Marion, Rip Hamilton, Carmelo Anthony, and Chauncey Billups, the Spurs probably don't win two championships. He can guard Earl Boykins or Dirk Nowitzki.

Battier doesn't have the quickness to guard one on one players. He might be a better rebounder and post defender but he doesn't stick to guys like Bruce.
