Wonderful.
You know, Diego vs. Hughes would be interesting. I don't think Diego is near Hughes' caliber yet, but I'd be interested to see how much of a challenge Diego would be. After he won TUF and even beating Gassaway in his debut, most people thought he wasn't for real and he would have a short lived career in the UFC. When he beat Nick Diaz, he still didn't get much respect in my opinion. But you watch his fight with Karo Parisyan, holy , he really made people stand up and notice. He certainly got my respect with that win, and he does belong in the UFC.
He keeps surprising people, and a match with Hughes is something that I would look for with anticipation more than another Hughes vs. Penn. Of course, we could see Diego be tested against GSP or Penn before they'd give him a shot at Hughes.

Diego could defintiely match Hughes' cardio / tempo I think...it would be a great fight. I would have no problem with Diego vs GSP / Penn before he gets Hughes...

Have you any idea what Matt said to his crew (with GSP standing beside him) after GSP said he wasn't impressed with Matt's performance?

You a member over there? I've been a member since '03 but I don't post there much anymore. Too many morons. A bunch of vets from SD left and formed another MMA forum. It's smaller, but alot less idiots and alot more knowledge of MMA.
Yea, I'm a member there...definitely have to sort thru the trolls (as is the case with just about any message board)...

There are plenty of sensible people there....you just have to sort thru the s, who are mostly the new people that think the UFC is the only org (they literally have never heard of Pride, WFA, etc) and the people purposely trolling to stir people up...

Which is funny because you've never said where you go for info (I use Sherdog, MMAWeekly, MMA-fighter, subfighter). I'd like to go there so I can get myself to the same level of MMA knowledge that you have...
Sherdog is full of morons. Yeah, you do have knowledgable people there, but the trolls and morons far outnumber them in my opinion. Their access to fighters and some of the news coverage is pretty good though. All in all, it's a good MMA site, but a horrible forum.
As far as UFC vs. Pride, I prefer UFC because of their matchmaking.
Pride is getting better. Matches like Hidehiko Yoshida vs. Cro-Cop was absolutley pathetic. For so many years you'd see some Japanese tomato can get annihilated by someone like Silva. There was way too much of that.
Now I see less of that and I certainly don't mind seeing unreal talents like Fedor or Cro-Cop fight.

There is NO WAY in you could be on the same level as me UNLESS you start by doing a couple of VERY SIMPLE things.
1st---> Admit Wandy Silva isn't the greatest fighter of all time. This is pure common sense.
2nd---> Admit that 1 site alone doesn't hold all infinite knowledge of MMA & that different sites & sources can be used in conjunction with each other.

I don't mind the occasional "freak fight"...
Crocop vs Yoshida was part of the OWGP. That's just part of the open weight tourny...
I think you're over-stating the # of mis-match fights between Japanese cans and good fighters. Of course Pride is going to try to push their (Japanese) fighters, but they don't all suck and nowhere near every fight has a Japanese fighter in it...

How many freak fights does UFC have that lower the cred of serious MMA?
Does PRIDE have good fighters? Sure, so does UFC.
IMO, the MMA value of the events is better in UFC events than the sometimes circus/carnival like fights of PRIDE.

Fighters I like include: Fedor, Crocop, W. Silva, Liddell, Franklin, Penn, Big Nog, Aleks, Rampage, Anderson Silva, Forrest, Swick, Guillard, Neer, Frank Shamrock, Kang, Dan Henderson, Shogun, o, Babalu, Little Nog, Mark Hunt, GSP, Karo, Fitch, Gomi...
I'm pretty sure that spans Pride, UFC, WFA, Strikeforce, etc...
For starters, Pride doesn't have a WW division. I'm sure they could get some of their guys to fight at 170 lbs and do quite well. The weight classes between Pride and UFC don't line up perfectly...
Not ignoring MW at all. Since when does the UFC dominate MW? 3 of the top 10 in the world are from the UFC (again, using MMAWeekly's rankings)...Franklin, A Silva, and Marquardt. Franklin is at the top, but there are several guys in Pride that could give him a great fight...Filho, Kang, Henderson, Misaki. How many in the UFC are worthy of a fight with Franklin right now besides Anderson? Swick is close and might be next in line. Sorry, but Pride is deeper at MW despite Franklin being at the top. That's my opinion. Please state your case for why I'm wrong...educate me...
Are you ignoring the LW division that Pride dominates right now? With that said, I'm very excited about the UFC LW division though...they're always entertaining to watch.
LHW - who besides o is worthy of a le shot with Chuck?? Vera if he'd drop down. Forrest?? What about Pride? Shogun, Arona, Silva, Little Nog...they'd all give him a great fight and IN MY OPINION, Shogun and Silva would beat Chuck even under UFC rules.
HW - no reason to discuss it really...
3. I use Sherdog and MMAWeekly the most...and probably equally between the 2...
4. I'm sorry, but the "freak fights" in Pride have no impact on ANYTHING. There are a few per YEAR. You act like they're on every card....
