Maybe, but his mental drive seems to be alot like Kandi's and Banjamin. Both had/have the skills to be solid big men but for whatever reason they never come out on a very consistent basis.

Ok...so if he sucks we kick his ass to the curb...it's not like we'll be on the hook for the MLE or a 60 million dollar contract.

Taft doesn't have any more of an at ude problem so far than Eric Williams had in Toronto...and he's not a lardass like Bejamin or an idiot like Kandi.

To be fair, Williams is a lardass now too.

Chris Taft's return from major back surgery will have to come for another team after the Warriors cut their injured forward Friday. Taft, who missed the entire preseason with muscular inflammation, had hoped to return by the end of the year.
    Owned again.

Right, the shotblocking is what sold me on Williams -- it's something this team is lacking with its present lineup. I don't know if Amundson would do much more than Jamar Smith would for the Spurs except block a few shots, but I do appreciate that he does the most with what he has. That's also why I wouldn't mind having another Bowen on the team.

Right Williams is supposed to have a tremendous work ethic and A list shotblocking ability...

I mean how many guys have gone over 5 blocks per game in college?

    Adonal Foyle and Drob right?

That is some elite company right there...

Worst case he's Adonal Foyle for the vet min? I'll take that.

    Owned?

So should the Suns waive Amare?

Should the Spurs have given up on Javtokas?

Damn..the Spurs should have cut Drob in 96.

    Your logic is ridiculous...

Bruno...I just figured out what put the bug up your ass...

You thought I was laughing at you when I lmao'ed the the Warriors waiving him for a severe injury...You french are so damn sensitive.

I wasn't laughing at you...If you look I mentioned the injury the post before yours.

I wasn't lmao'ing at you...I was lmaoing the Warriors making what IMO is a stupid move by waiving a guy with #1 talent when they suck as badly as they do, and have for the better part of 15 years now.

So peace...for now. I wasn't trying to insult you, you just assumed it...when I do mean to insult you you'll know it. So until you insult me again, au revoir...then you and I, we shall duel once again.

I'd still take Devin over Taft, but the bottomline is that there is no reason for the Spurs not to add a 15th player to the team. There is some good talent out there.

Devin's another example of the Warriors making what I feel is a less than brilliant move for a lottery team...

And don't we have two open spots right now?

    Ok.
And I have no idea if Taft will be one day a good nba player because I don't know him enough. I've just said that he has had a big injury.

Players with this talent level drop through the cracks on a regular basis. There is usually a reason for it. GS is probably using oven mitts after their experience with another Chris: Washburn.

Taft is a low risk, high reward acquisition for the Spurs. If he's not panning out or his at ude sucks, you cut him.

If he pans out, you get a hoss on your front line on the cheap with Bird Rights for the future.

I love how people crack on players for being at ude problems. Same was said about Buckets and Glenn Robinson before they came here. Both left with rings.

I think the point is, they both left, AH. They didn't fit here. What whott seems to be talking about is a development project, not a short term rental.

He was a guy that I wanted the Spurs to take a shot at in the '05 draft...

Unfortunately, poor work ethic + bad at ude + possibly severe back injury = not worth taking a flyer on him right now.

He was one of the cheapest guys on the Warriors' roster, so it wasn't cost-saving (as Devin's waiving was). His herniated back has to be a big issue - that was the thing that ended Bird's career, and obviously Taft isn't close to that type of player. If he were healthy, even with his lackadaisical at ude, I'd say pounce on him right away. But if he were healthy he'd likely still be a GSW.

I agree that it didn't save much, cost wise. To me, it was either his back or his at ude. Sometimes, you just have to clean a guy out of your locker room, especially if it doesn't cost you very much. If the Spurs pass, Pop would probably have gotten the 411 from Nellie on this guy.

I notice folks seemingly dismiss a herniated disk as though it wasn't a chronic problem. Usually, they are chronic and the person has constant pain. Even fusing the disc isn't a complete cure and Idon't even want to speculate on how much pain a pro athlete would have to endure to play with one.

As I recall, DROB was never the same player after he developed back problems.

yes, Mullin is obviously a lousy GM, but the fact that he wasn't able to even get a future 2nd round pick for Taft from one of the other 29 teams makes me think.

otherwise it would be a no brainer to claim Taft off waivers. (a no brainer for the Spurs as for most other teams).
i guess there must be more about the injury and/or Taft's character issues than we know.
