I love Alton Brown, Bobby Flay, Iron Chef, and yes - Rachel Ray. I like her 30 min meals, and $40 a day.

I cannot stand the barefoot contessa. or that carb-free cooking guy. ick.

I loooooove the food contests. there was a chocolate contest on earlier this summer - wow! The sculptures were amazing.

Don't know what network she's on (and even if I did it's not like I'd get to watch it anyway what with the Upside Down Show/Max and Ruby/Jimmy neutron/etc going on), but her cookbooks kick tons of ass (Ham in Coca-Cola is way good), she's not shy about cooking with fatty ingredients and has a great rack.

Did anyone watch Alton Brown's "Feasting On Asphalt" over the summer.

    It was awesome!

Alton has a very dry wit.

Didn't he always used to say:

"Isn't that a riot?" or something like that?

    Yep. He did.

He also said "hot pan, cold oil, food won't stick" which to this day I still say to myself when I'm getting ready to fry or sautee.

my fave cooking/food/drink shows are on other networks - still kinda bummed they haven't shown any new thirsty travelers or ming's quests in a while. ming tsai's show on pbs isn't bad, but not the same. culinary travels is good, but food network needs to bring back wolfgang puck's show. they also need to put him back on iron chef, he regulated hardcore the few times he was on.

We keep fresh parisa at the ranch almost all the time...we have made converts from all over the country this year...they can't believe how good it is and when they ask about the raw meat we tell them "If raw meat kills you then everyone in Castroville woulds have been wiped out a hundred years ago" LOL

The best I have found is from the Triple S Market in Castroville...they have regular and y. The y absolutely rocks...a pound of that stuff, a box of saltines, and a case of ice cold Shiner Bock is the next best thing to sex.

, I'm headed up to my family's place in Barksdale in a couple of weeks for an Axis hunt and I swing right by Triple S. Guess I'll have to make a quick stop after Haby's.

There used to be a BBQ joint right across the street from the Triple S years and years ago. Now that was some good stuff.

Sounds like European "steak tartare" but ier.

The peppers and lemon juice have anti-microbial properties, but if the meat was infected eg, with E coli 0157, I wouldn't want to count on the other ingredients to protect me.

The problem is not the rawness of the meat, but any meat/food infected/tainted from unsanitary processing and handling.

Sanitary farming/animal husbandry/processing/handling costs more than unsanitary, so count on the corps to place their profits above your health.

that's Nigella right? she has that Nigella Bites show. yeah it's on the Food Network. love her! I watch the food network alot. Rachey Ray can get very annoying but I do still watch 30 Minute Meals and $40 a Day.
Alton Brown rocks! I like Unwrapped too... I mean it's Marc Summers! A little childhood nostalgia there
Also, I looooove the contests like when they had that cartoon cake contest to see who made the best cartoon cake, they were incredible. they also had another cake contest that was amazing too. great shows on food network

Oh yea!! Forgot about her...I can't stand her!! Paula Dean is pretty funny to watch. If only I love how disgusted I get by the huge sums of butter and cheese she puts in every dish. I can feel my arterties clog up just watching her cook...It makes me want to eat healthy every time I watch her show.

And I'm old enough to remember when MTV was all about music videos.
me too. At least you still look that young!

I have been a big fan of the network for a long time.

I got hooked on the old Iron Chefs...those were cool.

I like RR on 30min. meals and $40 a day but I tried to watch her talk show....to paraphrase her..."yuck-o"

Big Alton Brown fan and I like him as the host of IC:America....liked his Asphalt show too..until he wiped out!

Someone that I don't think has been mentioned.....

    From tvgasm

Ever wonder what would happen if one of our favorite Food Network chefs created something they actually didn't like? Well, we were lucky enough to witness such an event when Giada De Laurentiis of Everyday Italian attempted to make some sort of sorbet. She claimed on the air that her facial expressions of disgust and malaise were merely a reaction to the icy treat, but we know better. Behold the Great Giada Disaster of 2006.

How can the Food Network even be compared to MTV?? The Food Network is still all about food.
So what? What is MTV about? Cramming ty teeny bopper music down your throat, recycling the retreads from Road Rules and Real World, and ing and moaning about en lement and the 'white man' keeping everyone down all the ing time.

Oh, and Rachel Ray is annoying as , just to add to the dogpile.
