Have any of you folks seen "Diary of a Political Tourist"? The woman that followed Bush (I think her Mom is Nancy Pelosi, California congresswoman) around in 2000 went and filmed the race for the Democratic nomination in 03-early 04. Really funny, candid shots of Kerry, Dean, and Edwards, but the best parts are at the beginning when she's filming the President at White House parties. HBO has been showing it quite a bit lately, if anyone is interested.

I do think people let Bush get away with being on vacation that much beforehand either way. Anyone here have a job where they get to take off that much time in a year?

Any one here have a job where you're mercilessly ripped apart by at least 48% of the county, as well as great deal of the rest of the world, justified or not...without the real ability to go tell them all to themselves? To tell them all that if this job were so goddamned easy, why don't they get their fat, stupid ass out of their armchair and give it a whirl?

I've never faulted him for working from Crawford, either. I'm not a big W fan, but why the does it matter where he works from? I'd have a problem if all he did from there was clear brush and drive his old pickup around, but he's had world leaders there for summits, Cabinet meetings, and no telling what else in private.
If the leader of the free world wants to go to his Texas ranch to work away from the spotlight of the White House, who am I to tell him otherwise? If communications/technology were this advanced forty years ago, LBJ would be doing the same thing.
