What's that come out to for Dirk? 1 FT per fade away jumpshot?

Yes but Tim works in the post, Dirk is a jumpshooter.
This is such a lame argument. Just because someone is a post player doesn't mean they are en led to more fouls than a guard or wing type (Or, in Dirk's case, a guy in a post player's body who doesn't play the post).

Sure you got guys like Shaq and Wilt that were so physically dominating that they hit the line a lot, but what really should gauge how many FT's you shoot is simple: how good of a basketball player are you?

Tim and Dirk both get a lot of calls, as they both should. They're both amazing players.

I never said Dirk wasn't an amazing player, but it's stupid to argue about Tim because Tim plays in the most physical section on the court and Dirk fades away most of them time.

Can some of the smarter or more sober spurstalk posters in the house please please please explain to me why this Dallas Mavericks team is receiving uber calls (as if they have accomplshed something and deserve treatment) when in fact this Dallas Mavericks team has accomplished nothing in its entire history as a team, and the only player on the entire team that has done anything in his career is Devin George???

You might have a point if we were talking about some typical 6'3" guard jacking up 20 footers, but we're talking about a guy who's such a physical freak on the court that there's seriously not one player with game similar to his (they say Andrea is supposed to be, we'll see).

Dirk is just as hard to guard as Duncan is, if not harder, simply because he plays his position in such an untraditional way. I agree completely that Duncan obviously plays in a more physical area, but that is surely counter balanced by the fact that Dirk's shot is so freakish that he's pretty much impossible to guard when he's fading away with the ball behind his head.

Or, he's a very good basketball player and guys can't really find an effective way to guard a long-range shot by a 7 footer.

    Either one.

But Manu's last second foul on Dirk to lose the WCF was called, right.

Uh....when have the refs EVER called a foul on the (potential) last shot of a game? Come on. Bowen got Dirk's arm in game 5 last year and it wasn't called.
You mean like when Dirk ran over Tim and got sent to the line in game 3?

    Good call, dumbass.

Man, you're dumb. It's not about en lement. It's about the reality of players in the post getting fouled more often than sissy jump shooters.

Anyone who has actually played basketball in real life knows this. Unfortunately, I know that does no good for all you mavbot dorks who sit at home on Saturday nights and beat off to Dirk and Hasselhoff posters.

The bolded part doesn't make sense to me. How would/should that earn him more free throws?

Whether they get FTs or not isn't debatable, it's whether they deserve em

Because guys get desperate/out of control trying to guard an unguardable shot and end up tapping him on the elbow/forearm/whatever.

Ouch. I just saw the replay. Dirk fouled Granger hard, pretty much full body contact on his back, shoulders and head. It was easier to say where Dirk wasn't touching Granger. The near side official looked a little out of position, out near the arc too much.

Spurs fans - wash, rinse, repeat. It's so easy to pull you offsides.

You ing babies. Starting a thread whining about the refs and calls in a game in which your team wasn't even involved and then getting pissy when someone tells you to basically shut the up.

So, again, shut the up. You can and whine and moan all you want about the outcome of other games. Bunch of overly-sensitive ty babies.

    Mavs > Spurs
    Dirk > Timmy

It may be hard to deal with, but it's fact as it stands right now.

(Cue the standard "rings" talk right about here. It's all you have.)
(Cue the "well at least we can TALK about our rings" talk right after that.)
(Then cue the "why are you on a Spurs board?" immediately after.)

You Kurd-lovers - wash, rinse, repeat. It's so easy to pull you offsides.

You babies. Whining about Saddam outing a few non-essentials and in a skirmish in which you weren't even involved and then getting bothered when someone tells you to basically shut up.

So, again, look the other way and mind your own business. You can say "look at what happened there with so many thousands getting mus gassed" blah, blah, blah and whine and moan all you want about the cleansing of a country. Bunch of overly-sensitive human rights babies.

It may be hard to deal with, but it's fact as it stands right now.
