Fact is, people are remembering the Tim Duncan of this season and forgetting the Tim Duncan of the past 6 seasons (including last season agains the Mavs).
Not really, Spurs fans maybe and people who follow Tim Duncan, but the national media and my local media whenever I hear them talking about him they give him nothing but praise, and talk about his drop in points and rebounds due to a slump the whole Spurs team is in and the fact that Parker and Ginobili have blossomed into scoring threats.

    You're right.

How about Parker vs Ginobili instead?
    I'd trade Manu this summer.

I would be more interested in a Beno v. Finley thread!

Two completely different styles of play.....You stick Tim Duncan in the Jordan Era, or have him guarding Hakeem...surrounded by the same players a David....I'm not sure...Now take David Robinson at age 29 and place him with Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli......Remember, this is the same D-ROB that manage to put up 71pts in a single game. This is also the same D-ROB that put a QUADRUPLE DOUBLE. Tim did come close, I was at that game. Tim goes about his game very quietly. Tim has a better shot, but David has a slight edge in the low post. David was far superior on the defense end, as well, possibly one of the top 5 defenders of all-time IMHO....Duncan has the highest BB IQ...His fundmental knowledge is pretty insane. But as we know, even the fundmentals can't make you a good freethrow shooter. Truely, shooting, in a nuts , is more about confidence, whether it be a jump shot, three pointer, or free-throw.

I'd like to see what David Robinson could have done with TP and Manu around him. We must remember - DRob had Vinny Del Negro and Avery Johnson

And by Drob and a host of other good role players. Fact is that if Drob had role players like Duncan did he would have won a le before the Duncan Era, Drob was in a situation similar to what KG is in now, his talent was being wasted built around mediocore players.
And even so, I'd be willing to bet that if you put David in his prime on the wolves teams of the last few years, and they make the playoffs.

If we have DRob now, we would have beaten Suns and Mavs!!!

If you measure greatness in terms of who will go down in history, then TD outreigns D-Rob easily. He's got 3 championships, David has 1, which he wouldn't have won if Tim hadn't joined.

But in terms of athletic abilities, they're different players. Tim is a PF at heart, and he plays like a PF, but he also plays excellent defense. David is a center, and a very athletic one. David can play PF and Tim can play C, but they have very different styles of play.

Actually, David has 2 championships (which he wouldn't have won if Tim hadn't joined). But, like Tim will be, Dave is much more appreciated by the more demanding of the Spurs fan base in hindsight. In fact, many of those now waxing sentimental over Dave are the same ones who "blamed" him for resigning with the Spurs and thus causing us to "lose" Chris Webber. And what a tragedy that was.

No, I actually felt disrepcted as a Spurs fan. But, yes, like many I grew up with D-Rob, so it was a real plesure to see him go out the way he did. I hope the same for Timmy as well.
