The Mavs are going to win the NBA Championship this year, barring injury.

They were a bounce or two away from being swept by the Mavs last year.

How about a couple of years ago where the last game of the season was in SA vs your Mavs, and Mavs beat SA's scrubs to tie 1st place with the Spurs at 61-21

    What happened that year?
Like I said, Mavs weren't the #1 seed...

The mavericks organization, actually the city of Dallas, has the most disgustingly pathetic excuse for sports enthusiasm i have ever witnessed. This entire ing city makes fun of its sports stars at the tip of a hat. Parcells, Romo, Owens, Dirk, Terry, Howard, Nellie, AJ: all have been ridiculed and belittled by local sports show hosts both on tv and radio. Its really scary when you understand that the people of this city do not realize this is not the norm throughout the sports world. Their media programs them to be the most fairweather fans in existence. dallas, they never deserve to win a championship in any sport ever.

Expand on this "makes fun of" stuff, and it better be something more than The Ticket doing fake characters...

Dallas loves Dirk, Jet, Howard, AJ, Romo...even Nellie. Parcells and TO? Eh...

    2003.........

The year Steve Kerr went off like a Roman Candle in game six to put the Mavs out of their misery........
Not the #1 seed...and I was at that game...

    Who the is Dirk anyway?

Oh yeah, he's the guy building custom homes with all those bricks during crunch time......

You gotta have a big pair of stones if you wanna compete in the Finals. Mr. "Mutant Jumpshooter" had his stuff shrivel up and blow away in the wind last year.......

The answer to your question: Not enough apparently
    You're right...Dirk is a joke...

Spurs fans would be pissed if he was traded to the Spurs, right?

    Timmy or Dirk........

2 MVP's and 3 rings vs. The Master Bricklayer

Ok Leonard, you sold me. I need a new house anyways........

With Dirk our defense would go from "wet concrete" soft to limp soft.........

we never have won 61 games in the regular season, so do your home work.
Oh God, ok 60-22. I also have better things to do than to study the short history of the worst NBA franchise ever, so dont give me that

history is all you got buddy, so dont knock it just yet
I was talking about Mavs history, which consists of 1 (ONE) finals appearance. I would never knock Spurs history, if that's what you're referring to. Championships, MULTIPLE WCF appearances, MULTIPLE MVPs, MULTIPLE 1st place seeds, MULTIPLE division championships, yada yada yada.

Obviously a big player would have to be given up for him. That player could only be Duncan.

Having a discussion about moving Dirk down here without any other moves is quite silly........

Oh for the love...this is one of the most moronic threads I have read in my life.

Is this the Mavs year? It could be. But it could just as likely be the Suns year...they scare the living daylights out of me. The sting of last years final could go one of two ways...provide motivation and fire to keep them going through this years playoffs, or psych them out and therefore make history repeat itself. The only way to know is for the games to be played.

maybe your being a little narrow minded here.

for example: just because you are an idiot doesnt mean everyone in san antonio is.

I ing live in this hole, and its quite funny at first to hear every radio seugeway (sp) that doesn't even involve sports at all (!!) make a snide remark about their own city's teams. I know you're used to it but its not normal dude.

If the Mavs dont give games away like they did many times in the playoffs last year and if they can stay healthy, they will win the championship. The only team who can beat the Mavs is themselves. Last years losses:

Game 1 vs Spurs- 9 point lead in 2nd half
Game 6 vs Spurs- 8 point lead in 2nd half

Game 1 vs Suns- 9 point lead late in the 4th

Game 3 vs Miami- 13 point lead halfway through the 4th
Game 5 vs Miami- 9 point lead in early 2nd half and many chances to win it.
Game 6 vs Miami- 15 point lead early in the game then lost control of the game.

If the Mavs just execute, answer runs, play to their fullest potiental, and have good health and team chemistry= Better then anyone in the league hands down and will win the le!

ok if the SPURS play their game, execute, answer runs, play to their fullest potintial, and have good health and team chemistry WE WILL NOT LOSE EVER

The question is whether last year's Mavs were the '88 Detroit Pistons or the '02 Sacramento Kings.

The '88 Pistions blew a series against the Lakers that they should have won -- then they used that loss to springboard to two straight les.

The '02 Kings also blew a series against the Lakers that they should have won -- their loss caused them to lose all confidence and fade into obscrurity, their one chance gone.

These Mavs seem to more closely resemble the '88 Pistons. But the stakes they will play for this year are staggering. Everyone will be waiting to attach the choke label. And they're led by a player who is still primarily a jump shooter.

You're trying to use common sense with idiots.
These clowns don't realize they LOST in the NBA finals.

Cross-eyed cuban will surely get a banner for the mavs' fans that reads something like, "We've got a kick ass record and almost won it all!"

Bottom line, Mavs would love a ring MORE THAN any sane Spurs fan would want Irk.

It is normal. Los Angeles does it, Washington D.C. does it ( I live in Alexandria, they do it all the time), Miami does it, Chicago does it, Houston does it, New York does it all the damn time. Give me a damn break. Usually a city with more than one team especially one that represents the 4 major US sport leagues will always have negative and positive to say about their teams. And forgive the city of Dallas for saying negative about the Dallas Cowboys. They are use to contending and winning championships and is not use to this run we've been in the past 10 years.
