I'm not going to the AllStar practice, which is usually where I take a lot of pictures.

We are going to Las Vegas this weekend. We won't be returning til late Wednesday night. (Yes, I'm missing the home game on Tuesday.)

I'd appreciate it if you all could do your best not to go wild on the forum while I'm gone. I'll have my laptop with me, but obviously not be online as much as usual. So if I don't answer your PM's and emails right away, that's the reason.

Yeah it's funny they are doing a "red carpet" entrance to the All-Star game starting like at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

Did they even do that when it was in LA? I don't remember that.

But I still don't think it's the biggest weekend ever there - because as of today, you can still find a lot of hotel rooms on the strip.

I've been there on New Year's Eve weekend in the past and there were no available hotel rooms on the strip.

you're right kori. my lady and i had tried to get a room in vegas for this weekend about 2 months ago, but the rooms were going double for what they usaully run. i guess they were expecting more traffic than is acutally showing up becuase now all of the rooms seem to be at their usual rate. and it seems that there are quite a lot to be had.

Yeah some of the rooms that are regularly $150 a night on the weekends were going for about $400. We just book last week and got a regular deal because we are going Sunday-Wednesday. Rooms for Saturday night are still pretty expensive if available. We are staying at the Riviera because that's where we are playing poker the most.

I've been to Vegas about 50 times in my life and it always cracks me up how they hand out those things to everyone who walks by. Old ladies, doesn't matter, they still hand them the cards and flyers.

well, like i said, my friends called them. not to get into any details, but they showed up, got $300 dollars each just to walk in the room and proceded to get kicked out 5 minutes later. the subsequent call and complaint to their office yeilded this reply, "we apologize. we'll send a salary girl right over." now the broads that showed up were just a level above crack- and they're not salary? scary, scary moment, but that's what happens on a 24 binge. i wonder how much the card guys get paid?

I'm in Vegas now. Believe it or not, I've seen a lot of Spurs Duncan jerseys being worn by people- not as much as Kobe or Wade, but still as much as the other jerseys.

George Gervin spent a lot of time making various appearances at the Jam Session and signed a lot of autographs.

This weekend is not even close to the biggest weekend ever in Vegas.

I go every year for the Super Bowl and the town is jammed and hotel rates are unbelieveable. Also, huge fights that are in town bring more than what the All-Star game will bring.

Still, it should be a lot of fun.

March Madness is even worse than the Super Bowl though. The first and second rounds of the tourney are wild in Vegas. I can't wait though I'm going out for the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight weekend.
