Oh they are going to suspend him, the question is for how long
Like I said....if any contact over the shoulders incurr a penalty, then suspend everyone for any errant elbows, clotheslines, karate kicks etc....I don't see the NBA doing anything at this point.
Oh they are going to suspend him, the question is for how long
It could be what they consider intentional contact not just incidental...

ESPN says it's under review, should have a ruling by tonight. I'm not great fan of Kobe but I thought the last suspension was kind of weak given that worse happens around the league on a regular basis with no mention or incident.

NBA suspends Kobe for tonight's game vs. BucksBy Chris Sheridan
ESPN.com
The NBA is suspending Lakers guard Kobe Bryant for Wednesday night's game at Milwaukee for catching Minnesota Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric in the face Tuesday night.
Bryant
After getting his shot blocked by Jaric, Bryant flailed his arms and caught Jaric in the face with 58.7 seconds left in regulation Tuesday.
Bryant was called for a foul on the play. Bryant struck San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili in the face in similar fashion with two-tenths of a second left in the fourth quarter of the Lakers' 96-94 overtime loss Jan. 28 against the Spurs.
Bryant was not called for a foul on that play, but was suspended for the Lakers' next game.
Bryant was suspended for what league disciplinarian Stu Jackson called driving "a stiff arm backward."
Chris Sheridan covers the NBA for ESPN Insider.
You're absolutely bull ing yourself if you think those incidents by Kobe are the product of anything other than frustration..... IT WAS INTENTIONAL. Point blank.
Intent is a very real issue here. And yes I agree, LeBron should have been suspended for a game according to the rule. The NBA is looking at intent as well, written or unwritten. My argument isn't with their interpretation of a rule, it's with Kobe.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice.................
His actions are very much like those of a punk. No reason for that kind of at all.
As I said before I have no problem with a suspension as long as they are going to be consistent. The only problem is that they haven't been consistent.
I agree. If you see the replay on the play before he was actually looking for a call. He didnt get it and in the next he made this exagerrated arm motion.
Why does Kobe get way more credit for being a "clean player" than he deserves? I mean look at his history. (See: Raja Bell, Chris Childs, Reggie Miller, Mike Miller, Manu, and now Marko Jaric) Does anyone not pay attention to history? We're so quick to judge others by the number of technical fouls they get in a season, well how about we look at one's suspension history. Only thing is with this stat, Artest is just killin Kobe in fantasy points!
If you hurt people repeatedly with the same motion, you should get suspended.
If he does this again, they should sit him for 5-7 games. There is NO point to the kind of flailing that he does.
It is judgmental to say that Kobe did anything intentional...He is a cleaver and crafty player...That does not make him a dirty player...The NBA should have just said that there review was inconclusive....![]()
Kobe Against The League!!!!!!!!! David Stern!
Someone should call out the Timberwolves organization for whining to the league about this.
Buss or Mitch need to make a public statement regarding the unfair treatment Kobe has received regarding these suspensions...
Where is the the suspension on Lebrons clothesline....Please write or email the NBA to protest Kobe’s unfair treatment...![]()
The difference between Kobe's incidents and most others is that Bryant is doing something that has no part in the game, flailing his arms in an obvious attempt to draw a foul. Whether the contact that occurs as a result of that is accidental or not is perhaps worthy of debate, but ultimately makes little difference to the league. Even if Kobe accidently smacked Marko in the face, he did it because he was attempting to deceive the referees into calling a foul that didn't occur, not because he was simply attempting a regular basketball move.
Kobe is a diva who doesn't like to get his jump shots blocked by some guy, so he slaps them in the face
He really gets pissed when white dudes stuff him, doesn't he?
kobe:clean player :: karl malone:nice guy
Boy oh boy........
While I agree that LeBron should have served some "pine-time" I think the league is looking at intent as well. Kobe set a precedent with the last flail.
I think he got off light actually (probably had something to do with their upcoming matchup with Dallas.....).
So call me judge and jury when I say this:
KOBE IS A PUNK BEEOTCH AND GOT HIS JUST DESERTS
What, did they give him the Sahara and the Mojave?![]()
Never saw Kobe man-up and make that move with Karl Malone.
