European colonization destroyed all of Africa. It doesn't matter that they gave the country back to the people. White farmers still own the land and export the food back to Europe today. They still hold vital positions in government offices with Europe/US in mind. Unfortunately they won't become developed countries until they riot and kill all those people, and when they do, some international force cuts them down.

It's a horrible cycle with no solution in sight. They haven't failed to run their own countries, they still haven't had the opportunity.

The world is still bleeding from the age of imperialism. whottt is dead on too about the obsession with socialism.

And boutons, the poverty rate still hasn't deviated far from the normal so don't try to pass off the US as some soon-to-be 3rd world country with 80% of the population in poverty and a 10% literacy rate. Fact is, this is the most affluent nation on the earth. Even most people in the United States that live below the poverty line own a house or pay rent to live somewhere. They own a car or have transportation and they make enough to feed themselves. When the people below the poverty line mostly have no place to live and starve to death, then you can say capitialism has failed.
