The Warriors have owned the Mavs over the last two seasons. Sometimes certain teams match ups prevent problems for even the best teams. For whatever reason, the Warriors present problems with the Mavs...probably because they cancel out the "small ball factor." Even without Nellie the Warriors took care of the Mavs last year. I dont think anyone is saying they would win the series, but I definitely think there's a good chance it would go 6 or 7.

Something goofy will happen. Either the Warriors won't get in or if they do the Mavs will be # 2
Actually, the Warriors can't "officially" be the 8th seed except in a games behind sense.
The Warriors are tied for the 9th most losses in the West. If they finish there, they won't make the playoffs.
And on top of that, they play WAAAY too many games.
Just because GS can beat the Mavs once in a while, doesnt necessarily
mean they will triumph in a 5 game series. Everyone has been saying 7 games, but if they end up 1 and 8, theyd meet in the first round and would have 5, not 7 to win. Dallas lost last night to Phoenix, who plays somewhat like GS.
All playoff series have been best-of-7 affairs since 2003. Otherwise, the Spurs couldn't have eliminated Phoenix in 6 games in 2003 or Sacramento in 6 games in 2006.

Be glad Mavs fans that Golden State is slipping away from the #8 seed.
It won't matter who the Mavs play in the 1st round. They should win in 4-5 games. The Mavs haven't matched the Warrior's intensity in any of the recent regular season games which is part of the reason for losing to them. That wouldn't be the case in the playoffs. Obviously, some teams match up better with others but the difference between the 1st and the 8th seed (regardless of who it is) this season is too large for it to make much of a difference.

Actually the Warriors are much better than what their record shows. They've been without Baron Davis for much of the season and made a trade in the middle of season. I wouldn't count them out yet as in making the playoffs and they would be a very tough first round team to play.

Ever since the Warriors acquired Stephen Jackson from Indiana, they have been a much better team and Indiana has fallen apart. They would be +20.00 to beat Dallas in a 7 game series though.
