Clinton actually took several actions against Islamic fundamentalists during his administration. Clinton was far from perfect, but he certainly took their threat more seriously than Bush did his first eight months in office.
The bottom line in the current situation is that it's ludicrous for anyone to threaten war over the capture of a few soldiers or officials. The big news this week that you don't seem to understand is that Russia and China are starting to tell Iran to quick ing around on the nuclear issue. I would expect the prisoner situation to be resolved when the parties return to the negotiating table, if not before.
