ref gave mav series win over spurs. ref gave heat series win over mav (by not giving mav same calls as mav enjoyed in spurs series)
refs did not give heat the series, mavs made enough mistakes by pussying out and not taking it inside because of the rough d in the paint...heat won it, mavs didn't, i don't like to about officiating because it's not something that will go away, my mavs have to learn to deal, adjust and play through it

anyway, this is my only comment, i'm tired of smack for the day and didn't mean to come on here and engage in arguing

I'll give it to you Dwayne Wade was drawing a lot of BS contact, but your Mavs still got that finals appearance gift wrapped by the league so you ended up better off with the refs.

i can see why you would be bitter about the spurs' loss in the semis and immediately about the officiating even if duncan had more fts than anyone else in that series...my bf does the same thing whenever the mavs lose...in understand the frustration, i'll just leave it at that

i know, i'm kind of worn out reading all this stuff today about the game, it hit me unexpectedly because i thought it would be a rather boring game but it was alright, despite the unnecessary drama thanks to the ref with the god complex. i'm so ready to find out who we're going to play and get on with the playoffs.

HAHA, trying to play the ol' I'm above that card, eh?

Wait until the Mavs actually get shafted. Mavs got the raw end on those Wade fts, but it's not like they couldn't overcome the calls. Spurs get Bavetta clown fouls with the game tied under a minute.

I'll reference Dirk stepping on Duncan's foot being a foul simply because it's the most obvious and rediculous.

Just remember, it's easy to be cool and collected when your team is the one benefitting from the calls, but when the referees make spectacularly amazing calls against you - one after another in the bottom of the fourth quarter - you too will be " ing" just like one Markus Cuban and just like one Your Boyfriend.

I don't about things. I'm just calling it like I see it.

If the Spurs won because Tim stepped on Dirk's foot and Dirk got the foul, I'd be the first one to hoist the asterick.

    i hear you

if anything, i'm just glad my spurs could finally get some rest now that the #2 seed has been locked.

i'm going to the raptors first playoff game in years, i only hope its against NJ, b/c this city thrives in booing carter! (I'm even gonna wear a carter raptors jersey that says "quitter" on the back )

oh i don't doubt the reffing was sketchy, but i refuse to solely blame the refs for our loss in the playoffs last year. i watched every single spurs game in the playoffs, and while there were some frustrating moments, I'm much more apt to blame our non existent D, lack of rebounding, and small ball on the series loss as oppose to bad reffing. Blaming the refs is just lame....especially for an entire series.

Can not one entire series be pivoted on one crucial call?

chill, not all mavs fans about the finals officiating...just like i know not all spurs fans about the wc semis officiating

just curious, which bavetta call are you referring to?

it's possible, i mean let's say manu didn't foul dirk in game 7 but called for a foul anyway, that could be bad, but i think the spurs were outplayed most of the series. the mavs imposed their will on us, and pop has been playing into AJ's hand ever since. We had one bad game (game 2) and Pop has been obsessed with small ball. A lot of the games could've gone either way, but I blame our lack of hitting the big shots, or making stupid mistakes (manu foul) in crunch time than I do blame bowen's questionable foul on dirk that led to ft's or whatever.

the spurs only hurt themselves in that series.

problem is, spurs fans who were complaining about the officiating were only complaining about the games in which the spurs lost...there was no disussion about the officiating in games they won

Actually I'm just citing Bavetta's name as a verb because to me he just makes up calls as he goes and it's basically a whole circus when he refs.

And I'm not saying Avery didn't stick it to Pop or the Mavs didn't play the best basketball I've ever seen from them.

I just happen to be one Spurs fan who believes the series turned on a number of not questionable, but insane calls made by the referees in critical stages of the games.

Well that's Spurs fans - I wasn't in here posting. I may be skewed sometimes but I try to be as objective as possible.

In fact earlier in the season, I disowned the Spurs because they were so boring and sucked so much. I know that doesn't prove that I'm not being bias about last season, but goes to show I don't have the complete blinders on.

I'll complain win or loss, but obviously in a win things get washed away because they won and that's the whole point. When you lose you have to come back to the inevitable fact that for some reason or another you lost.

I'm of the opinion that the reason the Spurs lost last year was the Mavs were too good and the refs were too bad and the Spurs Superman surge after game 3 was too late.

the spurs would have had to DOMINATE mav last year to win the series despite the refs...but mav is too good a team for that, so they won with ref assistance

    once again

the mavs won because we didn't have an answer for

    a) dirk and harris

    b) lack of rebounding

    c) lack of D (they shot way too high of an FG% that entire series, and small ball's defensive lineup can attribute to that)

    d) we got down 20 points on our OWN HOMEFLOOR IN GAME SEVEN. Of all the things to get pissed about it, it should be that. We had a wonderful comeback and then threw it away over a measly foul from the same guy who hit one of the biggest 3's for the spurs in recent memory in that game.

    e) if terry hadn't been suspended, even though he deserved to be, I don't think we would've seen game 7. We won game 6 92-86 so I think the chances of mavs getting the W had terry played would've been likely.

    f) I'm sure a lot of mav fans feels hosed about game 5 and whether or not dirk got fouled by bowen. I thought it was a clean block, but then again I'm a spurs fan.

Ok well that was my 30 posts for the year quota.

There you go Kori, maybe that will help with your tiny traffic on Spurstalk and get a few people talking about this place.

Have you ever tried that email thing where you say you'll get food poisoning if you don't forward this link to 50 of your closest friends and retail websites that you have their email?

Or there's always the pyramid scheme... that should get you a few people.
