Ummm, and remind me again what type of basketball they were playing in 2002-2003 that made you think they could win a championship?

Oh I was still a Mavs fan. But i knew they wouldnt win a le like that. The only year they even seemed to have a shot was in 02-03, but we all see what happened there.

Well, good for you. I never talk to people, on here or in person, unless I have a serious problem with them. I certainly don't talk to people because of their basketball opinions. Too bad it's not the same for everyone who act like I'm talking about their family when I'm simply giving an NBA opinion. People can disagree with my opinions without acting like I'm attacking them personally.
I appreciate that 99% of you still like to call me Jeffdrums, but I can't get that name back. It was banned in February or so.
Hmm... well then add these to your observations...
Who was favored to win the le the 3 years the Lakers won them? Or during Jordan's Bulls era, who was usually favored? How about in the Lakers-Celtics era? Who were always the two favored teams to meet in the Finals?
Please, stop talking out of your ass.
Yep! As the Good Book says, "The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong."
But that's the safe bet if your on a battlefield.
Very similar to the Suns style, but with a little more defense. Again, they didnt win, and the only reason they even had a chance was because they had a LOT of VERY LUCKY breaks go their way. Honestly, they were lucky to even beat the Blazers in the 1st round, and they were lucky that Webber got hurt in the second round, and that they had to face the Spurs instead of the Lakers in the WCF. It just seemed like one of those years where everything may go their way, and they could pull it off... but they STILL couldnt. It never works.
That was my point. My original post said SINCE the Lakers' run ended in 2002.
I'm done with this troll thread. I've said everything needed to be said. Carry on everyone. Logging off SpursTalk for the day.
did anyone hear yesterday. 5 out of the last 6 overall #1 seeds didn't go on to win the championship. pretty interesting
Yeah... just picking and choosing to make a non-existant point... typical Jeffdrums...
Yea, well look at some of those #1 seeds...
Kings - No defense, chokers, Shaq/Kobe
Spurs - Won le.
Pacers - Played in a weak Eastern Conference, not very good to begin with.
Suns - No defense, no rebounding.
Pistons - Played in a weak East, causing their record to appear great.
Compared to the 2002-03 Mavericks this year's Suns look like the 1999 Spurs.
Oh, really? Is that so?
Let's compare, shall we?
02 Mavs Opponent Averages - 95.2 PPG, 43.8% FG, 34% 3PT, 16 TOPG
06 Suns Opponent Averages - 102.9 PPG, 45.7% FG, 36.3% 3PT, 15.2 TOPG
02 Mavs Other Defensive Stats - 8.1 SPG, 5.5 BPG, -3.4 Rebounding Margin
06 Suns Other Defensive Stats - 6.7 SPG, 4.8 BPG, -2.3 Rebounding Margin
Care to back up your ridiculous statement?
How could anyone be upset with a writer picking the Mavs? They have been the best team all year, and should be the favorite going into the playoffs. Give em some props, they have been outstanding this year
No new news here.
Mavs are expected to win it all.
...but I am not in agreement.
