This is the only part I disagree with.
Long first-round series = tired players getting hurt later on. I guarantee you that D'Antoni and Nash were pounding that into the players' heads every single day this week.
Meh, it's the playoffs, whaddya expect? Anyway, I think D'Antoni's a passionate p.o.s. I can appreciate the compe ive side of him and the win-at-all-costs at ude because I absolutely hate losing anything and I have a short fuse...but I also think he's an arrogant p.o.s. and looks like a marionette out on the court so I hate on him for that....keep that stuff private...and he did, but he allowed someone who was going to write a book into that private world...doesn't make him look good, but it was behind doors and I'm sure these guys say stuff like that all the time behind doors, no big deal. That said, GO LAKERS, BEAT THE SUNS...or at least make it to six games!!!
This is the only part I disagree with.

If D'Antoni was saying this stuff to the media, then I could see where the problem comes from. But you're right, this stuff was said behind closed doors, where coaches talk freely with each other. Just because there was a journalist in their presence, doesn't mean they're going to be completely well-behaved. As a journalist, I'd want them to talk as freely as possible, not so that I could paint them in a bad light, but so that I could give people a good idea of what goes on behind-the-scenes.
Oh give me a ing break! Who were the suns able to guard? The lakers were pounding them into submission in that series and Smush was looking like a real NBA guard vs. Phoenix. Don't give me that bull about Lakers trying to pick a fight, the lakers were being physical with the Suns, which most teams will do in the playoffs. It wasn't nothing more disgraceful and sickening that happened in that series than the Suns officials releasing to the press that Kwame was being investigated for Sexual assault the day before game 7 (btw, an investigation that dyed after the playoffs) It completely took Kwame out of that game thus the lakers out of the series. the Suns!![]()
Some of the quotes wernt behind the scenes. The Amare quote when he said it wont be a long series was said on TV after the Suns beat the Lakers last week. I heard it and saw it on TV an was totally shocked.
Pride comes before the fall...
I already pointed that out, but thanks anyway. My points were coach-related.
If the Lakers are in need of the Suns talking to have a better shot at winning the series, they are already ed.
+1
this is when I wish shaq still played for the lake show![]()
D'Antoni played his team with class down the stretch. Not only is he passionate, but considerate of momentum. So what if they lost against Rockets & Clips, those teams were playing for playoff berths and deserved (as did the rest of the league) compe ive play. I liked that. D'Antoni has my support.
Mr. back-to-back MVP is doing all the right things to stay in shape for the game, and Amare is back to form. Garbosa is likely 6th man, and Raja Bell is capable of shutting down the best scorer in the league.
Suns have a right to a little gloating, imo, and they'll likely back it up against Lakers. Which will be thoroughly enjoyable and totally expected.

Except those comments were made during the series, not after, when the Suns were losing at the time. If you read the quotes in context, they aren't that bad at all. The first one came right after Game 1, when D'Antoni was discussing the Lakers with his assistant coaches, and how best to beat them.
The other quote about Kobe came after Game 3 when D'Antoni was frustrated, trying to find a way to get his team jumpstarted. They just came out later because they were published in McCallum's book. Read the article.
Yes, when I think if classy overdogs, Shaq is the first name that comes to my mind, too.![]()
No, you dumb - this was last year. You obviously hate literacy as well.
Pride? Yes, they were proud after Game 1 last year.... then they got shafted and went down 3-1. I think they've learned to swallow their pride this time around and they won't take the Lakers for granted again.
You guys are as dumb as this LA Times sucker - trying to take something from last year and act like they said it last week.
Secondly, you don't think pompous-assed Phil Jackson and Kobe don't say similar things about the Suns and Nash? It's all about confidence and motivation.... you need both to win in the Playoffs. Just ask Dirk and Smush Parker how much weakened confidence can cost you...
Lastly, Amare said they would "take care of them pretty quick" in a post-game interview after they beat the Lakers at home fairly easily.
The ones that claim the Suns are "overconfident" and put words into their mouths (Luke Walton saying it would last 4) are the Lakers.
I find it funny how a #2 seed that barely escapes out of the first round thinks they are so great. I mean the Lakers had them by the throat and yet they think they are so much better. Interesting. You would think the obviously favored and more talented team wouldn't need to talk so much and would just let everything be said on the court.
Do you have absolutely NO reading comprehension skills? Have you read absolutely NOTHING that has been posted in this thread? Are you truly this ignorant and blind?
Do you realize no one out side of Amare is showing any sort of arrogance? The coaches are simply point out facts about the personnel of the Lakers. This was a closed door meeting meant to direct and fire up the team.
Once again they WERE NOT talking . What do you think goes on in a coaches meeting. They talk about the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents. There was no intention of “ talk” or “bad mouthing” in any of this. I think the suns won that series any way, I would say they did all the talking they needed to do on the court.
Walton said it would go more than 4. In reference to Amare saying it will end quickly.
I understand that the book is from last season, in the locker room. It motivates a team to hear how your opponent really feels about you. The fact that it was made public escalates the need and desire of the players mentioned to do everything in their power to prove him wrong.
I expect an intense series and the Lakers will be ready.
Proud after beating a team that isn't better than you are?
Have the Suns really sunk this low?
Did you not realize this book was written last year?
Amare can be proud in a post game interview with Mic e Tafoya and say it will be a short series after they just beat the Lakers handily about 2 weeks ago.
Not as bad as some other comments I've heard recently, such as "we gave them the Finals last year." or my all-time favorite: T-Mac - "It feels so great to already be in the 2nd round..." whoops!
Phil Jackson LOVES bulletin board material. Lakeshow up at the half.
I guess P&G never read Phil's book where he throws Kobe under a bus... I guess all is forgiven now that Phil is back under a Buss himself (Jeanie).
I take that as a testament to Kobe and the fact that he wants to win. To allow a coach to coach you after a tell all book is very surprising and out of character for a person that you consider so selfish and horrible.
Oh you mean did I read what you Suns fans wrote in a desperate attempt to try to back up your team. Yeah I read it.
They allowed what they said to be published or knew what they were saying was gonna be published. It is talking because the series is so recent.Once again they WERE NOT talking .
