It wasn't that great. Wedding Crashers was way better.
I haven't seen a movie this funny in awhile. I loved Super Troopers and this might have been better. That's the last time I remember a movie that had me going almost the whole movie

It was funny, but that that funny. There were no times that I laughed where I had tears in my eyes, not even close...mainly some chuckles throughout.
Knocked Up and 40 year old Virgin were better in my opinion.
The part were they were telling each other how much they loved each other was very awkward. This part of the movie could have been left out and the movie would have been better because the movie was 10 mins longer that the thin premise of the movie could stand.
Mclovin was a geek for the ages though and stole the movie and was worth the price of admission all by himself. It is hard to believe that this was his first movie.
Everyone has their own personal taste as far as comedies are concerned. I didn't find Wedding Crashers funny at all. Although, I love Super Troopers and many people don't find that movie funny. I still think it was funnier than 40 year-old virgin and Knocked Up.

Knocked Up brought tears to your eyes? Wow.. the movie was a slow comedy and nothing leapt out as brilliant, to me anyway. The few funny parts were ruined by trailers. 40 year-old virgin was good, so it's hard to say because it's a matter of taste. As you said, it's your opinion.
lol. It cracks me up reading it now. That's what is genious about it.
I agree with you on that one. A great character.
Saw it last night, don't remember the first half an hour because I was drunk and had to watch it with one eye. I need to go see it again because I really enjoyed the second part where I was able to use both eyes.
knocked up is a lot funnier if you have been through a similar situation. my wife and i both thought it was spot on, captured both of our points of view perfectly. the only difference is we had been dating for over a year before she got pregnant. the brilliance began when shimmy shimmy ya came on before the movie even started.
I was in a similar situation, and still didn't find it that great. It was all over the place, if you're gonna make a goofy comedy please, PLEASE LEAVE THE CHICK FLICK out. It tried to be everything to everyone, and ended up being two movies. A decent comedy and a really ty chick flick.
I like Superbad just for the reason that it stayed true to itself without the self righteous bull "lessons" of movies like Knocked Up. I don't need movies to try to give me a lesson, I've lived it.
where did I say that?
It's deductive reasoning. You said SuperBad didn't bring tears to your eyes, rather only chuckles. Then you went on to state Knocked Up and 40 year old virgin were funnier. Therefore, one would deduce that movies that you find funnier brought tears to your eyes.
damnit oligarchy, jim's a doctor not a movie critic
good movie but not as good as 40yr old virgin & knocked up. good though.
Way overhyped. I just got back, and it wasn't that good, I didn't laugh hard once. I laughed very subtley many times, but nothing made me burst out like anchorman, 40 yr old virgin, wedding crashers, or knocked up.
You can't even put Superbad close to that pool of movies. The first 3 quarters were so in slow.
I got really baked before I saw this movie and maintained that level of intoxication for almost the entire duration of the movie, until the really gay chick flicky at the end. But it was pretty ing hilarious, dunno if being stoned made it funnier, but weed tends to make mediocre movies a lot better for me.
The movie gets props for reffing Zack Morris. I saw it with my friend who is two years younger than I am and he has no idea who Zack Morris is. What a noob.
Mclovin needs his own movie.
how exactly would you leave "chick flick " out of a movie where one of the main characters was pregnant? i didn't think it was a chick flick at all.
This movie was hilarious! I agree McLovin (and the cops) carried this movie. It got a little slow but only at the very end... still better than knocked up.![]()
I'm not sure what was so chick-flicky about Knocked Up either. Do you mean the parts with *story*?
It wasn't meant to be a "guy movie."
Are you serious?
Knocked Up was 10 times better than SuperBad
Knocked Up was all over the place with their horrible attempt to be both a gross out comedy and a sentimental tear jerker. It went for cheap, overblown, typical BS to tug at your heartstrings. Did it really need 30 min. of the woman getting all pissy about the parenting books (like you learn how to be a parent from a book, come on)? The the guy caves as is typical in the movies to conform and do what she wants for the 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000t h happy ending in movie history. Is it too much to make something original? How often do situations like that end happily? Here's how they end 95% of the time - with the couple hating each other and the kid growing up with severe emotional issues. Write a movie about that.
I didn't think Superbad was great, but it was better than Knocked Up. I still prefer the 40 Yr Old Virgin to both of them.
I don't know where 40yo virgin gets so much love from. It was funny but not something I would watch repeatedly. For me it was just average.
Superbad ranks up there with There's Something About Mary, Dumb and Dumber...with Knocked Up being a half a notch below.
You can't be serious...Superbad is overrated.
If you can't distinguish a *story* from a cheap attempt to pull at your heart strings then you're the exact type of imbecile they market that drivel to. Learn to be a bit more discerning and don't fall for every cheap money making trick the movie industry tries to force feed down your throat.
Give me a ing break. Like hating happy endings and sentimentality makes you some kind of movie expert.
The things you hate so much about "Knocked Up" are the very things that make it an original comedy (and "The 40 Year Old Virgin" had those same heartstring-tugging elements, but perhaps you've forgotten that).
