Bowen was getting torched by whoever he played and was benched for most of the game (played only 19 minutes which says a lot about a starter) so it's inevitable that more points would be scored by his man after he left.
I know. I was just using it as an example. Kobe did his thing though....

Bowen guards AI for first quarter
AI 0-6
Thats getting torched?
QUESTION
Bowen gets 3 quick fouls and is benched. Considering that AI usually has a high percentage on foul shots, its not clear that because he missed some shots, he wasn't scoring at the same time on foul shots.
I think he was getting torched in the sense that his defense wasn't good enough to keep AI or Carmelo from scoring without fouling. That took him out of the game.
Therefore He was a non-factor in the game. Bowen has to be able to play 30+ minutes of great defense and be effective on his man to offset his other limitations.
Admittedly his is a tough job--and he usually is able to play 30+ but not against AI and Carmelo in that particular game. He will have to do better in the coming games if we are to win the series.

You don't think that part of Bowen being out was the fact that the offense was so stagnant and bad that they didn't want to risk leaving him out there when they could put in a 'shooter'?
I really thought that was one of the biggest reasons he sat so long.
That is the reason he sat so long in the second half.
In the first half, he got two quick fouls. But in the second half, they were looking for another offensive threat, so they sat him.
