I'm glad you pointed this out, because I've heard commentators say this so many times, well, at least 3 times the past week. That's just ing ignorance, what morons.

Sao Paulo is a monstrous city, 4th largest by population in the world.
yea, mike breen said the same thing in game one.

"Yeah, Robert won a lot of rings. I played with Robert in LA in a year they didn't win. Thanks a lot Robert."

As for the Jon/Brent thing, it's not really a secret that they're not terribly close. The brothers have different degrees of closeness to their father after he divorced their mom, and it affects their relationships with each other. I think I read that Brent has the best relation ship with pop Rick.

The TRUTH HURTS! The only ones that didn't see the obvious missed calls are the stupid Spurs fans and the refs. Terrible officiating. I hope Raja brings out the clothesline next game so you can see what a REAL foul looks like.
ya i'm sure the truth is extremely painful, like dantoni is a whiny little , nash is the only player who gets it, and let me think, oh ya the final score.

Don't stoop to Bowen's level. The Suns can still win this, and they can do so playing clean.
Do not worry ..... you have no one who plays good enough defense to get to Bowens level.

I could have sworn at some points that I heard Barry agreeing with some officials' non-calls (both against SA and PHX) and saying a few times that some calls players were arguing with were either correct or incorrect.

It's quite sad that Mike Breen knows the rules of basketball better than the color commentators and has to explain things like body contact and defensive position. That said, some of you get way too defensive if the color commentator isn't firmly locked onto the Spurs' jocks. Most of the country is rooting for the Suns. Most Suns fans are complete and total whining vaginas. Get the over it.

I thought it was pretty obvious who he wanted to see win. When the Suns pulled within 6 with like 3 minutes left, Barry was very excited.

Since I was at the game I didn't hear his bonehead comments. However, I have heard things from him in past games that cause me to to do a mental double-take and ask "did he just say that"?

To have played in the league for as long as he has, this guy is a freaking moron.
As a professional broadcaster he is expected to remain unbiased, but I at least thought he would be more supportive of the Spurs because of his brother Brent. Dude his articulate, but his factual commentary is full of holes.

Of course, I never liked his arrogant ass when he was in the league because every time he would nail a three, he would trot back down court proudly holding up three fingers in an "OK"-style symbol. Plus he was a journeyman player at best - he wasn't all that.

I hate Jon Barry and I think he's just a jealous cause his hair fell out and Brent's didn't.

"Leandro Barbosa was born in a small city - São Paulo, Brazil" - Mike Tirico
I didn't hear his broadcast, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was trying to be cute on that one.

Phoenix is soft. They can't play physical ball so they resort to cheap shots such as Marion's on Manu...and Bell is constantly clawing and scratching.

There is not one player on the Phoenix roster with Tim, Manu, Bruce, Tony Horry's (shall I go on?) championship pedigree. You've gotta play tough to earn it and players must look within for answers, as Nash has been doing, and not blame the opponent. Maybe Phoenix will start to get it...

No, he wasn't. The announcers have repeated it throughout the series. They actually think it's a small city

About a week ago on an ABC pregame, Jon Barry was asked who would win the le and offered this prediction:

I think the Spurs are gonna do it again, I really do.
He was smiling and nodding his head the whole time. This is no Spurs-hater.

Many times broadcasters who root for one team are careful to give the other team the benefit of the doubt, particularly when they aren't employed by that team. Barry wouldn't be the first or the last.

Sao Paulo has a population of over 11 million. Some small town.

But in fairness to Tirico, Sao Paulo is a small media market (like San Antonio).

Classic stuff. A Spurs fan accusing other teams of cheapshots.
